This was so incredibly cute. One of my most anticipated reads, and it did not disappoint. Rivals-to-lovers will never not be superior. The banter was everything! The sexual tension had me kicking my feet and giggling. Emily and Jack also felt so Nessian coded, which made me love them more. This was definitely darker and more emotional than her other books in the series and felt like a love letter to eldest daughters. I definitely saw my older sister in Emily, which made me want to jump into the book and hug her. I also loved seeing Emily slowly trust Jack with her emotions. It had me clutching my heart and holding back tears fr. The only reason I didn't give it a full rating was that it took me a while to get fully invested in the story at the start, and I also felt like it dragged on a little at the end. Now I'm just impatiently waiting for Sarah Adams to announce Maddie's book.
"You are not alone, Emily. I would walk through my worst memories to get to you every single time."
literally wishing jack was real so he could say this to me too ðŸ˜
This Katherine Center book was a silly, fun romance, while also exploring some sensitive topics. Definitely check the trigger warnings, as it heavily focuses on the FMC's struggle with body image.
The main characters, Katie and Hutch, were cute and definitely had chemistry, but it felt weaker and less developed compared to her other books. This might be because the author attempted to juggle several plot points simultaneously: Katie's struggles with body image, Hutch's grief, and the mystery surrounding Cole's resentment toward Hutch. All the characters were still very endearing and lovable in their own ways. Hutch's dog, George Bailey, was definitely the highlight of this book and might be one of my favorite animal characters I've read. As usual, her romances are closed-door, so if that's a deal-breaker for you, you probably won't enjoy this as much. I think anyone who loved Katherine Center's previous books will like this one.
This was so entertaining! One minute I was picking up the book, and the next I was almost finished. I can see why so many people recommend reading this during a slump. Just a fun and silly little romance—just what I needed at the time.
I loved the balance between romance and suspense. The plot was engaging and kept me on my toes, making me suspect literally every character. I really liked the use of past characters' perspectives between chapters, which added depth to the developing story. My only gripe was that the ending was a little underwhelming.
