i’m convinced that everyone who rated this 2 stars or less read a different book by accident and got it confused with this one. even if you didn’t like it at least give it a 3

I probably would of enjoyed this book far more if I were 14 years old. It's a great book, I just might not be the target audience. I feel like if the character were in college, were more independent, etc., I would have enjoyed it more. Especially since at times the writing style seemed very poetic and mature, but then the characters did or said something immature and it was kind of like, oh. BUT again I don't think I'm the target audience, therefore I can't critique it that much (although on social media it seemed like people my age and even older loved it). The book was pretty fast paced, I really like that especially as it seems to have gotten me out of my reading slump. The dialog was mainly fine. The only other criticism I will give it (and I don't think this one is biased due to my age), is that towards the end, the writing got very repetitive. Like okay, we get it. The characters also seemed a TINY bit flat. They really had the potential to be great they really really did, it just needed to be expanded on a bit more. I needed to really get into each of their heads a little bit better. And maybe that was the point with Alaska, maybe she needed to be a bit more chaotic and set apart, but still. ALSO, I hated the end essay. Was not a fan, it felt way too all over the place.
Anyway, the reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because it was entertaining enough for me to actually WANT to keep picking it up and reading it. I'm not sure if it's just because how fast paced it was, but I kept wanting to keep reading. The story overall wasn't bad at all, again I just wish it was written a little differently, a little bit more mature. I'm not even that old omg I literally graduated highschool a year ago. I just genuinely think that this book was meant for 14-16 year olds.

The first half was def necessary for the reveal, but it was sooooooo slowwwww i could not get over it 😭😭 its embarrassing how long it took me to finish this book BECAUSE of the first half. The second half i read in two sittings, FIVE STARS ⭐️ for the second half.

Loved the characters, their problems, the plot, their interactions, the side characters, EVERYTHING !!! The only thing preventing it from being a five-star read is that I would have liked seeing a bit more resolution or at least progression when it came to the main characters flaws and relationship.

Honestly, I want to give this four stars but I can't because of
the justified cheating trope.
I literally loved the characters but I hated the characters actions. The only one who I completely loved was Warren.
-3 points for trope
-2 points for
RIDGE NOT USING HIS VOICE TO TELL SYDNEY TO GET HIS PHONE WHILE MAGGIE WAS PRACTICALLY DYING BUT USING IT DAYS LATER TO TEL SYDNEY GOODBYE

+1 point for lovable side characters and characters personality. Honestly loved Sydney and Ridge, just didn't like how they handled things in relation to the Maggie situation.
+1 point for being engaging and having good writing
+2 points for the ending 😩😩
All in all,
if Ridge didn't cheat on Maggie and justify it all the time I would have rated this book higher, I just can't get past that.
