Anne of Ingleside by L.M. Montgomery
4.0
This book in the series isn’t as exciting as the others previous to it. I think the reason for that is because they want to establish the children as actual characters. That’s one thing that I did like. I adored Anne’s kids. They were all different versions of Anne when she was younger.
The problem with this book is that although it’s called ‘Anne of Ingleside’, Anne feels like she’s becoming a secondary character. Whilst I enjoyed reading about the children, I missed Anne.

Little Men by Louisa May Alcott
4.0
I adored the book ‘Little Women’ so when I found out that there were other books in this series I had to read them. Little Men is charming and the kids are sweet, but it just felt like a repeat of Little Women almost. It was still really good and I do recommend it.
I should mention that it did feel like it was trying to hard to give moral advice. I don’t really care much for things like that but it was like that with Little Women only in Little Men it’s ramped up. Little Men is a charming book and I did enjoy it.

Pet Sematary by Stephen King
4.0
Not the scariest Stephen King novel but so far definitely the most horrifying. I had no idea what to expect going into this book. In fact, this is the only other Stephen King novel, besides Under The Dome, that I didn’t know what was going to happen or expect. I’m glad that I haven’t seen the movies because the suspense is what truly makes this book. Well, that and everything else.
Plain and simple, it was dark and had a bunch of twists and real characters. I think the fact that the characters felt so real it made me like it so much. I think it might be one of the few books that have made my heart race. I’m not going to spoil it or anything but I will say this: only Stephen King could almost make me have a heart attack over a cat.

Rainbow Valley by L.M. Montgomery
3.0
I liked this book but it wasn’t what I wanted from tot. For a series about Anne Shirley her character completely disappeared. Although, Rainbow Valley is supposed to focus on Anne’s children. But the insane thing is that not only is it not about Anne but it’s not about her children either. It’s about some of their friends. Although, I will say it was a good book.
I’m just slightly upset that Anne’s character has completely disappeared and now she’s basically gone from the story.

The Summer Wives by Beatriz Williams

I didn’t really know what to expect. I just saw that it was recommended to me a while ago. The writing was elegant and the story was mesmerizing. Reading it felt like a daytime soap opera, which I actually liked because heavens know I love daytime soap operas.
The story felt predictable but at the same time I didn’t really know where it was going. I don’t know how I felt about that. But I did like how the story is told from alternating time periods and by two different women. This was definitely a good book.

Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie
3.0
I don’t really have all that much to say about this book. It felt a bit like some of Agatha Christie’s other books. It wasn’t bad just predictable which isn’t the best thing to have in a mystery book. But it was good in a way that I would say it was good for people who have never read an Agatha Christie book.
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
5.0
“...I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.”
I was not expecting what I read. I was expecting a kind of cheesy tragic romance but to read about young boys slowly falling in love and learning their horrible fates and having to tragically deal with it. ‘The Song of Achilles’ is an amazing book. It was like the love they had for each other leapt off of the page. I didn’t cry, although, it was horribly sad and got sadder. Even though sad doesn’t feel like the right word.
Something else I’d like to mention is how they mentioned the sexual assault that often takes place in Greek Mythology. I thought the book would shy away from it but it didn’t and I’m glad for it. It shows how different every character really is by how they act to it. Some men participate in the assault, some are indifferent, and how Patroclus is against it and even tries to stop it where he can. Without even mentioning that it is assault Achilles himself is assaulted himself and I wish they would have shed some light on that.
My point is, the book is amazing and everything about it is written beautifully. I can’t believe how long I have waited to read it.

Home Body by Rupi Kaur
3.0
I think the best word to describe this book is honest. It was raw and real just like all the books from her I’ve read. It doesn’t try and hide the truth or anything like that with pretty words like a lot of poetry books do. My only problem with it is that with Rupi Kaur’s poetry books I feel like I’m reading the same thing over and over again.
There Once Lived a Woman Who Tried to Kill Her Neighbor's Baby: Scary Fairy Tales by Ludmilla Petrushevskaya
4.0
I enjoyed this book. Obviously it was filled with a bunch of unconventional and original fairytales which I thought was cool. All of the stories are pretty short (In an average book each story would be less than one chapter) but the telling of it gets across just fine in a short amount of time.
One thing I didn’t care much for was the fact that every other story was bland and boring. Some were exciting and interesting but only about half. The wording felt a little dull too but this is the first fairytale book like that that I have read so it may not be that strange to if you like fairytales.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
5.0
It has been a long time since I’ve read a real fantasy book. To put it simply, I loved every second of this book. Even the part that annoyed me I liked because while the plot was important the characters were more important and I liked that. Because no matter how much a character annoyed me Leigh Bardugo still wrote them to be human so I couldn’t help the understand their reasoning. Each character is compelling which is something that usually lacks from a fantasy book.
The plot is also something like I’ve never read before. I loved the concept and the story from beginning to end. I loved the book so much that I’m reading the sequel extra slow because I want to wait to finish it until I have the other books in the grishaverse. The is one book that I would recommend to practically everyone (show included). I think most everyone would enjoy it.
