If I could give this book 10 stars I would. It’s so fucking good. All of it. I wish it was 1000 more pages.

Reading this was incredibly uncomfortable. Jones’s experience in The Family International was harrowing and disturbing  to say the least. I had a knot in my stomach the whole time.

This is a SLOW read. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. I would compare it to books by Shannon Hale like Goose Girl and Book of a Thousand Days. I don’t  why but that’s the vibe this book was giving me.

There were parts that I definitely liked but I think the book ran a bit too long in some places. I really only cared about Priya and Malini and I wished there was more about them. I was also rooting for this couple but there were times where I felt like the chemistry wasn’t right or things felt forced.

I might not be in the right head space for this book. I really wanted to like it but it just didn’t click for me unfortunately.

I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai

To say this book is inspiring is a understatement to say the least. I can’t even comprehend the amount of bravery and courage in this young girl who just wants to learn. This was written a 9 years ago so Malala is older now, obviously, but to be that age and face what she faced… I can’t imagine.

This felt a little bit like a gang turf war romance dressed up in Greek mythology but I’m not complaining.

The most unbelievable part is that Hades adopts 3 puppies and his days and nights aren’t consumed with puppy training.

The writing in this book is great. I was flipping through the pages wanting to know what would happen. I like that the author had multiple characters who could be possible suspects.

I started the book liking the MC but as the book went on I didn’t understand why she made the choices that she did. I also was not a big fan of the ending

I did not think Zoe fit well as the serial killer. I just didn’t buy it. I also felt like pedophilia was used as shock value and that just doesn’t fly with me.

Also, I wish the MC had come to terms with Persephone. She blamed her the whole book and when it turned out that Sebastian was actually the bad guy, I wish she could have reconciled with Persephone. <\spoiler>

While I wasn’t the biggest fan of this book, it does make me interested in reading the Silent Patient.
