I gotta be honest, when i started this book and realized it was about chaol and not a continuation of the massive cliffhanger that ended empire of storms, i felt exactly like i did when i first started the lost hero (heroes of olympus series) and realized percy wasn’t in it at all.

However, I did end up liking the book and while Chaol definitely annoyed me in previous books, I came to understand his character here.

For women, the things that go bump in the night aren’t imaginary boogeymen or ghosts, they’re the men we pass walking down the street or even the men we thought we knew. In the end, all we have is each other.
