Love in the Time of Serial Killers by Alicia Thompson
4.0
This is a genre that is WAY out of my comfort zone, im almost never a romance reader unless it’s also paranormal or fantasy so this was a big change for me! I did really have a lot of fun reading this! The pacing was good, the romance was great and the plot was interesting! I’m a bit sad that the “my neighbour might be a serial killer” bit was dropped after like 20% of the book and I wish it went on a bit longer bc it was a weirdly fun dynamic but I still had a good time with this! The mix of true crime and romance really made me enjoy it!

This was super interesting and creative and just weird! I enjoyed visiting Easton and these characters again and this was a super quick read too! I honestly wish this was longer, I wanted more but I enjoyed it a lot non the less, an easy 4*!
The Night Hunt by Alexandra Christo

That was SUCH an easy 5*! I loved every single second of this book.
I’ve been following Alexandra Christo since I got her debut as an Arc so many years ago now and just honestly I’m always blown away by how her books manage to get better and better every time!
I’m always one for mythology and gods and this was truly amazing. Curses and gods and monsters? Utter perfection! You have to read this asap if it’s on your TBR, it’s just thrilling!
It’s paced so well, like there was never a lull in the story, it all had a purpose, an intent, every scene was just really satisfying and interesting…plus romance!! Oh and the twists! I’m in loveeee

I feel like I’ll never not rate these 5*!
These books are truly a world wind. This one left me with tears in my eyes at the epilogue. Idk what it is about this series but it always hits SO hard!!
I loved the worlds we visited here and my god was it an adventure! I already can’t wait for the next one. I loved the book before this so much because of Antsy and she really made this one amazing too! Honestly every character in this series I seriously love so much, ah pain.

I LOVE lost media so much its unreal! Having my love for lost media weaved into a book?? That opening chapter had me HOOKED!
I'm obsessed with this book, genuinely. The use of the reddit threads and Wikipedia articles truly make it feel like some of the lost media content I've consumed religiously over the years, it felt so REAL. The whole book made me feel this odd sense of nostalgia for a show that never existed but is so easy to slip into your childhood memories and could almost be real.
This was genuinely thrilling, so gripping and truly a RIDE! Absolutely an INSANE ending as well, though tbf every piece of the puzzle as it weaved together left me in awe!

Bride by Ali Hazelwood

This was my first experience with Ali Hazlewood, I picked it up because vampires are kinda my thing and I was intrigued what a romance girlie would do with a fantasy vibe and honestly I liked it a lot. The writing was strong, the plot was crazy good and the characters were interesting. I did NOT expect that much ~spice~ and it didn’t deter me from liking the book but I was not prepared for that ride that’s for sure. Not really sure what I expected with this one but it was a fun romance with a good high stakes plot so 4/5!
I probably won’t be picking up any of her strictly romance books any time soon as I am a fantasy/paranormal reader at heart but if she ever dives into this genre again? Check me in!

Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

My god did I enjoy this. I absolutely love when monsters are allowed to be monstrous! The vampires in this are not nice, they’re savage and brutal and it just made the book so so good! I loved the mix of gangs and vampires and truly all the different kinds from myths and folklore, this was just so unique and different I love it. The different POV’s really added to the story as well, seeing it from multiple perspectives really added to the tension. Truly such a unique book I’m obsessed

This was really fun, really interesting and I seriously LOVE this nightmare world. I’m sad to see it go but this was a good ending to the duology, everything wrapping up nicely, honestly really positive, I’m glad! I enjoyed the messaging through the book about unlearning behaviours and conquering your own mind, it was refreshing and nice to read! Giving this a 5* purely bc it was just a lot of fun!
This Blood that Burns Us by S.L. Cokeley

Dear author, I love you. I just finished this and I have NO idea what to do with my life now except patiently wait for books 3 and 4…like the first one this was EVERYTHING!!
I got some scenes I was really
hoping for and a lot of things happened that I didn’t expect but I LOVED! The whole college setting again gave me like TVD vibes and it was just SO FUCKING GOOD! Like I also just love the slow burn romance (it’s exactly my kinda pace so I’m living for it) and the vampire lore is just really fun and unique!
God idk what I’m gonna do if I have to wait agesssss to get back to this series! I just love how it gets darker and darker and it really amps up especially towards the end of this one. I have really high hopes for book 3, I’m gonna freak out. I miss my disaster boys already…this book broke my heart…I dragged this out as long as I could bc I wasn’t ready for it to end!

Together We Rot by Skyla Arndt

Honestly what an enchanting and beautiful debut! Seriously never read anything like this before! The cult, the creepy small town, the religious aspects, the mysterious forest?? It all made for such a good horror themed romance. It was weird and sad and it dealt with grief in such a good way. Loved it, will be reading whatever this author writes!!
