Giving this a 4 upon re read. I’m starting with this one first as I try finally get through the TOG series!

I still enjoyed it but not the 5* hype I had last time, maybe something to do with reading it first?? (I remember almost nothing about the series, well nothing specific!). It did take me ages to get through though, last time I read it in one day but this time I was fighting for my life! I think it’s because I prefer first person a lot more now and this was in third, plus idk the ahhh celena is the best at everything ever vibe was a bit annoying but ah well I still had fun regardless.

Anyway onto Throne of Glass!

This really lived up to the first one! I'm obsessed with the dual timelines that weave together in this series and it just works SO well to build tension! I'm so glad we're getting these weird fucked up vampire stories coming out, this was just fucking great for me! I can't wait to see what Liz Keirn writes next, I want to read EVERYTHING, her writing is just so interesting and kept me hooked!

My initial reaction after finishing this book was just “oh my god”

This series seriously never disappoints! The depth of the characters, all the twists, the great queer rep on top, I’m just floored. Every character I just have such a sense of love for and just ugh! I also loveeee how much darker this one was. Truly wild.

This one literally had me struggling to put the book down! It’s actually fascinating how this world works and how it’s weaved into modern day Yorkshire (I’m a Yorkshire girlie myself). I genuinely cannot wait for the next one, I can’t wait for the prequel either!! I’m SO excited for that!

Please please read this series! Floored!

I will never get over how incredible ST Gibsons writing is, how gorgeous, how REAL the characters feel.

Carmilla as a story always has a special place in my heart and this felt like an AU that truly worships the rawness and love in that story and pulls it into a dark academia setting.

Also ST Gibson’s religious undertones and beautiful prose have me truly obsessed. I can’t wait to read everything that this woman   EVER releases

3.5 for this. It started slow and I almost dnf’d it at about 20% in but I kept going! Glad I did because it got a lot better and I was really enjoying it by the end. Definitely an interesting book with some good character dynamics (and 2 bi mc’s <3) but I feel the romance whilst I liked both characters was a little lacking?? I wanted more! Still fun tho!

I don’t know what I expected this to be, all I knew was something about a newspaper and war(???), but this was magical!

Old gods, new wars, gorgeous writing and just really strong characters! This was great, truly.

The plot was so unique, with the letter writing, the excerpts of them from the typewriters and the real world setting mixed with magic and gods…it seriously lived up to the hype. I can’t WAIT for the second book…I’m not okay after that ending omfg…

It's taken me years to get to this book...the ever growing tbr never stops...i literally bought this ON release day but here we are I FINISHED IT AND UNEXPECTEDLY THE LAST CHAPTER MADE ME CRY.

I have NO clue how SJM managed to make me care about Nesta by the end of it??? She's been my least favourite character throughout the series but this seriously was a redemption arc, filled with so much power and emotion (and FAR too much smut lol, way to step up the game between books lord).

Giving this a 5* because it hit everything, surprising character redemption arc, new lore, seeing the inner circle again, MORE FEYSAND, this was really great. This really was a book about trauma and overcoming your fears and yourself and it was just really well done with those aspects. The new side characters were great and we BETTER get more Valkyrie content please and thank you. I need the next book to be dropped ASAP.

(Also I seriously did not expect to cry at this book especially because I wasn't a Nesta girle at the start of this but the end scene just awe...)

3.5 purely because I know Carmilla is a novella originally but I just wanted MORE especially from the prologue and epilogue! This was great though, I’m a sucker for a good retelling and this was so good. Just beautifully told!

Oooo I loved this just as much as the first if not more!

It really did pick straight up from where the first one left it without missing a beat, so much so I kept forgetting I was reading a sequel. The pacing felt a lot better than book one which was great, everything moved swiftly and it was just all so damn good!

I loved the characters, their changing dynamics, the hints of romance…all of it! The lore with how magick works is still super unique and interesting to me so I enjoyed this a lot, it really worked with building the tension between allies annd enemies.

Glad it wrapped up nicely, the ending was really satisfying and I enjoyed it so much. Sad to let this duology go!
