Man I wish the pacing in this was better, we spent like 90% of the book going slowly waiting for the pieces to come together and then only 10% ish of the actual reveal! I wanted more time!! Plus there was still quite a few things I wanted to know the answers to and questions I still had. I did have fun though, what a weird book.

Honestly after such an amazing first and second book in a series…I’m genuinely disappointed. I waited ages for the last book hoping it’d bring the series back for me from book 3’s weirdness but honestly I’m just frustrated!

I thought something promising was
going to happen as the book kept going and I stuck with it hoping for a satisfying ending but I just feel…dissatisfied as a whole with the series and its conclusion. The ending truly just left me annoyed, after 4 books we ended with that?? It felt so rushed and like it hastily had to come to an end, I just wish it had more thought and more time.

That being said I think this would have worked better as a trilogy eventhough some plots needed more time, just as book 3 was well…you’ll know if you read it, and the end 20% of this book was written with such weird pacing I just feel sad. Plus there was a lot of plot points that were just left unexplained!!

Idk I just wished this would have done more…but the ending felt really rushed and I feel like we spent too long on plot points that didn’t even get wrapped up…idk I’m giving it a 2.5 because after book 1 being so incredible I feel bad about not enjoying this and still love the world and the characters…

Gave this a 4 last time but an easy 5 this time! It’s actually shocking how many events from this book I’d either forgotten, remembered wrong or just missed last time!!

Super glad the story is moving and shifting to the main plot, there was really good character development, lore and world building in this one, LOVED IT! Somehow am a Chaol girlie this time around to so love that for me

Genuinely remembering just how good SJM is lately, hoping heir of fire lives up to my memory next, that one I remember being my fav!

This was quirky and charming and really light hearted for a book about a villain! I loved the villain and all the silly “ur in love with her dumbass” moments, honestly just a really fun romance element to this I enjoyed a lot!

Evie was an interesting MC with a really good internal monologue I enjoyed reading!! I’m super intrigued for the next book after that ending, I can’t wait!

Also shout out to Kingsley, hehe what a fun little element. This book was just so whimsical and fairytale vibes I loved it

This gave big Gideon the ninth vibes if it was fantasy rather than Sci-Fi purely from the MC, I enjoyed it a lot!

This was different, interesting and had so many plot lines of political intrigue and I just liked the way it was told, as if you already knew things but they explained just in case (that gives me jay kristoff energy so 10/10 from me).

Giving it a 4 bc it was really solid and I had a good time! Will be looking out for books 2 and 3

Okay honestly this was soooo much better this time around! I enjoyed the main and side plots, the hints at complicated romances, the political intrigue…it was just an easy 4, almost 5!

I think reading assassins blade first is to thank for that, the story felt so much more grounded and I knew more about both the world and Celena, it made it much more enjoyable!!

I kinda can’t wait to read crown of midnight! I’m glad I’ve given this series another chance, I feel like this is a good sign…

This ticked so many boxes for me! Fairytale elements , sapphic mc’s, a bit of mystery and magic? General gothic vibe?? This was right up my alley I loved it!

More pleaseeeee!! I just love the magic and fairytales in this series and I’m so gutted that it’s over. I tried putting off reading this for as long as I could and then ended up consuming the entire book in practically one couple hour sitting!

EvaJacks still has my heart, always. This caused me so much pain and frustration and left me gasping by the end! I truly cannot get enough of this series and I’m praying that we get more in this world asap.

The last line has me hoping I’m right about more, I need Stephanie Garber to make my storybook dreams real pls and ty.

Also I have the Waterstones edition so got to read one of the alternate ending epilogues!! If you have this edition you know which one I mean but ahhhhh!

I seriously have never read a Christina Henry book that wasn’t amazing and this did not disappoint. The tension, the mystery, the ghostly elements, I had a lot of fun reading this! I love a good paranormal horror and this was really fun!! I always enjoy the main characters in these books, the strong women who just don’t wanna be fucked with! 4*!
