Possession by Elana Johnson

I thought that Possession was a pretty good dystopian novel. Recently the second book in the series came out, and was getting lots of hype, so I decided to check out the first book. The synopsis on the back cover really interested me. I liked the idea of there being Thinkers and using mind control. It is the typical YA dystopian genre book. That doesn't mean that it wasn't good, though. I liked it, and I read it really quick.

Vi is the main character who defies the rules. She is a girl that has been doing it for a while now. She doesn't have a father anymore, but she has her best friend Zenn. He's always been there for her, and breaks the rules with her.

Then Vi meets another guy, Jag. Soon she learns that her world isn't as perfect as everyone wants the people to think. She learns about mind control, and finds out more about her father.

I liked Vi as a main character, but she seemed upset all the time. (But if I was put in her situation I guess I'd be a little upset, too.) My favorite character would have to be Zenn. Even though you learn some things about him throughout the book, I was still interested by him. He's a big mystery at the end of the book.

Overall, I liked the book, but it wasn't as amazing as other dystopian books. I know I shouldn't, but I seem to compare tons of dystopians to Divergent by Veronica Roth. (It was my first ever dystopian read, and now I'm hooked on them). I did still like the way that the mind control was a part of it, and there were different powers. Those were some of the things that made this book unique. If you liked Divergent, then you will definitely like Possession!

Hush, Hush was a fresh mystery!

I knew when I started reading that it was going to be an angel book. This was the second book that I read with the topic of angels. I loved it! The book starts out as more of just a mystery, which was what I liked about it. I liked that it was different than other paranormal romances. You only learn about fallen angels towards the end of the book which created a really nice ending.

My favorite character would have to be Nora. I liked how she acted and how she was written as just your average teenage girl. At some points I found that she was very paranoid, but instead of finding that annoying, I found it a little. My second favorite character would be Patch! I got such a distinct picture of him in my head when reading, and fell in love with him a lot faster than Nora did!

Overall, I love, love, loved it! I read this book really fast, and was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series and see what is going to happen with Patch and Nora next!

I first want to say, that this book, for me, was a perfect example of not judging a book by it's cover. I wasn't a huge fan of the outside, but the story inside was fantastic!!

This was only the third angel book that I've read, and they are quickly turning me into a paranormal romance fanatic!

This book was such a fast-paced, dark mystery. I loved all of the mysteriousness of the setting and all of the characters. I really liked the prologue and how it showed so much foreshadowing. Towards the end of the book, the story became a little predictable at points. I still really liked reading how the end played out.

Luce and Cam where my favorite characters. Luce was a girl that seemed out of place in her surroundings, yet still proved to stay strong and try to blend in. I liked how she meets new friends and soon starts to feel like she's fitting in and belongs. I liked Cam from the first page that I read with him on it. As the book progressed I started to get mixed feelings about him, and becoming more of a Daniel fan at the end. What I did like about him, was his friendly and goofy personality. At some points I found him a bit pushy, which I didn't like. I liked Cam because of the depth of his character.

Overall, Fallen was amazing. I'd recommend this book to those that like paranormal romance and lot's of dark mystery! I am so excited to continue on reading the series!

I first want to say that I downloaded this book free on my NOOK! You can download it here: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/unenchanted-chanda-hahn/1108148275?ean=2940032955979 !

I wasn't sure if this book was going to be good or not, because of it being free. Well, it was certainly an awesome read. I'm so glad I decided to download it!

I thought that the overall concept of the story was really interesting. I love fairy tale re-tellings, so this was very cool. It's not quite a re-telling, but I enjoyed this very much.

I loved the main character, Mina. She was really strong-willed, and you could tell that she really cared about her friends and family. I liked her personality, and I felt like me and her would be friends in real life.

I wasn't a huge fan of the romance in the book, but I can feel a love triangle coming in the second book maybe? Brody is your classic popular boy, who after an accident where Mina saves him, gets to know her and...falls for her. Then Jared comes along and knows about the Grimm Curse. There was no romance between them in this book, but like I said before, I can feel something coming on a little later...

Overall, I really really really liked it. It was filled with lots of action. For those of you that like fantasy, definitely check this one out!

Wow. Hourglass was amazing.

I loved the concept of being able to see people from both the past and the present. The time-travel element made this book really unique!

As characters go, Emerson, or Em, was a great character. I loved her fun personality, and how she proudly tells people that her "edit button" is "broken". I really like Em and Michael's relationship. In the beginning I wasn't sure if I really like him, but I grew to love him as the story progressed. He was such a sweet character! I wasn't a huge fan of Kaleb as a love interest for Em, but I did really like his character. I liked them as friends. Kaleb sometimes seemed a bit annoying and pushy, at least to me.

I must say that there were some awesome quotes in this book. Michael was the one saying most of them. Ah, he was just so amazing and romantic. It almost makes me want to be able to see rips from the past, too!

Overall, I am so glad that I bought this! I'm not really sure what genre I would categorize this as - maybe fantasy, or paranormal? - but whatever mix of genres it was, I liked it A LOT! Again I'll say how much I liked the incorporation of time travel, as well as there being a bad guy! That always makes it interesting...Great read for paranormal and fantasy lovers! Can't wait to buy [b:Timepiece|12680986|Timepiece (Hourglass, #2)|Myra McEntire|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1321072604s/12680986.jpg|15746543]!

Paranormalcy was an amazing paranormal read!

As soon as I read about Tasy, I fell in love with the main character, Evie! I loved her BA personality! Who else is there in a book that has a taser that is pink with rhinestones?!

One of the things that I liked about this book was that it had a wide variety of paranormal creatures. Instead of being just about vampires, or werewolves, or faeries, it incorporated all of those plus others! That made the book unique, and I liked it!

I liked so many of the characters as well as Evie. I love, love, loved Lend!! How could you not?! He was so sweet and always seemed happy even though being held prisoner. After he got out, I loved him even more! His relationship with Evie was one of my favorite parts of the book. Another character I really liked was Lish. She was a mermaid and lived in a tank where Evie stayed, and it was cool to see that they had a really close friendship even though they were so different.

The story-line was really awesome. I liked learning more about Vivian along with Evie, as well as watching her help out the paranormals.

Overall, it was a really interesting and action-packed read. I read this one super quick, and enjoyed every minute of it!!
Delirium by Lauren Oliver

I literally could not put this book down. I think I put it down about 5 times throughout the time that I was reading it, which was for meals and to sleep and do homework. When you start reading this book, you will not want to stop.

Lauren Oliver created a Dystopian world in the future, where something that in the present is cherished, in the future is consider a horrible disease - love. We follow Lena, who I really liked as a character. She wasn't all kick-butt, but she wasn't really a wimp either. She changes drastically throughout the book. In the beginning she starts out just like most everyone else in her world, a person who does what they are told and wouldn't think twice about doing otherwise. But then when she catches "deliria", from Alex, she becomes a totally different girl. She realizes that what the government thinks isn't always true, and works hard to fight against them for what she feels is right.

Sorry about getting a little summary-ish up there but that was the whole reason why I liked this book so much. In a way it's not just a cute love story, but it's a coming of age book, too. It ends with a major cliff hanger so if you read this one there is no way that you won't want to read the next one which is now on store shelves. I recommend this to someone who wants a light, sweet read, but also someone who wants a good Dystopian novel.

I want to start out by saying that I feel like I would have enjoyed the book more if I chose to read it for pleasure instead of having to read it for school. Normally that ruins a book when reading it for a school project!

I felt that out of the whole book, the middle was the most interesting and exciting. I felt that the beginning was a bit unnecessary. When I reached the part where it was from Odysseus' point of view, I felt like the story became overall better. The ending was just okay, but I wasn't a huge fan of the scenes with the suitors.

The writing style was a bit hard to get used to, and I found myself having to think about who was speaking and the meaning of what was being said. Finally, I did get confused trying to keep a bunch of the characters straight.

Once you get past those things, the story was good, and was a story of survival. I did like the greek mythology aspects of it, and the different creatures like the cyclops and the sirens.

Overall I liked it, but I wasn't a huge fan of the way it was written.
