A fun book to read aloud to the kids! Good story, fun characters. Thank goodness we listened to the audiobook for the first of the series so I knew how to pronounce the names, though.

Honestly, I enjoyed the show better. This was too much like reading something I'd already watched, and the prose was not so great that it was indeed a better experience.

Alternating between dry and fascinating, I'm not sure why this is part of the Mustich 1,000 books to read, but so be it.

Definitely a guilty pleasure read, although I will say that it kept me guessing and the obligatory twist did surprise me! Fun, escapist fluff.

Very academic (read: dry), but with some interesting tidbits of information. While a good reminder of how far we've come (although this focused on Great Britain not the US), the book focused on socialism and its intersection with feminism much more than I expected.

Very enjoyable. Almost five stars, except for the gratuitous sex and drugs in the first half.

This was mind-blowing, although a few things went over my head, to be completely honest. I especially loved the first and last sections -- worth it alone for those. I also appreciate Goldstein's prose, which struck a nice balance between colloquialism and substance. He made a dry and complicated subject very approachable.

I have a better understanding of Hinduism now, but this was very repetitive and not that interesting to read.  And really not very relevant to non-Hindus.

Better than I expected. Some of it was quite fun to read -- I liked the dialogue for the most part, and the characters had me rooting for them. But the love story did strike me as a little too unrealistic.
