A tad ridiculous and, obviously, outdated. I did chuckle at the last page, in which one of the characters is said to be learning to "blow the French-horn."

Incredibly insipid. Every story was written in the saccharine style of a Hallmark movie, and reading the whole book had the effect of eating too much candy -- sometimes you can't help it, but it's never as good as you think it's going to be, and it certainly doesn't impart any actual value to your life.

Very fun. The dialogue is largely word-for-word what they used in the movie, but there is a lot of extra backstory and detail that couldn't fit in a movie format.

So short it's hard to say how good it was, but the writing was very skillful. I could hear the Irish lilt in all the dialogue. A sweet but sad story.

Not a bad story, not bad writing, but it's possible that I read this too soon after reading The Other Roy. Interesting but not perfect.

I'm not usually a huge fan of reading plays, but this one was such a perfect combination of whitty repertee and historical intrigue (from one of my favorite periods in English history!) that I enjoyed every minute of it. I hope the screen adaptation is as good as my imagination's!

Still beautiful after all these years. Even my fifth grade son loved it.

Terrible and amazing. It's hard to put into words just what Roy has accomplished with this book.
