I can appreciate how well written this is, but I didn't enjoy the content very much. I also wanted it to end more conclusively, but I know it wouldn't be as acceptable in the literary world for that to be the case.

I was going to give this one star, because the protagonist was so incredibly annoying, but she did finally make some progress and redeemed the ending of the book a bit.

Sweet, a little slow, maybe a bit dated. The kids liked it pretty well.

Too much football for my taste. Even so, the issues our country is facing now are so clearly foreshadowed in parts of this sad tale. Those parts were very interesting. Bissinger is a wonderful writer, but the subject was just not one I was that into.

Fantastic insights for the horn player and teacher. McWilliam has nicely organized and articulated many of the thoughts I have had in a nice, neat package.

It did take me a little bit to get drawn completely into the story -- some of the beginning was a bit pretentious (a talking painting??) -- but I enjoyed it much more than I initially thought.  The pieces of the story came together in a very satisfactory manner.

A fun book to read aloud to the kids! Good story, fun characters. Thank goodness we listened to the audiobook for the first of the series so I knew how to pronounce the names, though.
