Junie B., First Grader: Aloha-ha-ha! by Barbara Park

I wish more time of the trip was spent with Junie B. enjoying her time. It felt like we got to the point where she was fun and had interesting things to say and note and then she went home immediately afterwards lol
Definitely sticks out in my memory of all of the Junie B. books I read recently.

A good middle-grade graphic novel about doing the important family traditions, but not losing your individual identity in those traditions.
I like the way it handled showing how significant traditions like a Quinceñera are to families

suuuper short
but really good and worth reading! I had never heard of this issue so it really sparked my curiosity to understand it.

I really loved this one! I had never read any of Telgemeier' works before, but I kept hearing her name mentioned when talking about good YA/Middle-grade graphic novels, so I decided to see if they were that good, and yeah, you can really see how this set a precedent for a great graphic novel!

Bond's introduction went HARD!!! This was one of the anime's best episodes and the manga's version of it is just as fun :)

this one made me cringe!!! (in an intended way!)
Though I love where the arc ends up, the middle portion was difficult to get through. It's really fun to read as a companion novel, but I would definitely recommend reading this before Crunch (Click part 5). I am excited to see where these characters go in the future!
This graphic novel was not solely written and illustrated by Kayla Miller (as the Click series seems to be) and I feel like you can tell. The way these characters look, talk, and interact feels just slightly... off. It's good as its own thing, for sure, but if you're just expecting more of the Click, this might not meet that expectation. You can feel the elements that all of the contributors brought to the table and I think it succeeds in that sense.

couldn't read the full trilogy in order (😔)
but I enjoy that i was still able to understand this out of context!
And I always appreciate showing what the process is like and the end of it, "What did you say? There's going to be a third book about Bina and her friends? Oh. Gulp" "Okay, then. Back to work!" Adorable.
