WHY have I been putting off reading this??? It was so good I am KICKING myself for not reading it sooner

I literally giggled-- GIGGLED LIKE A LITTLE SCHOOLGIRL at the end

(If it weren't that these are touchy subjects around these parts, I would be using this as a great example of unreliable narrators)

to me, this felt like a collection of feelings and events that happened without a lot of connection and drive between them. The art is beautiful though.

Definitely still recommend reading it, it just was not for me.

Loved seeing Olive in this story really listen to her classmates, their needs, and want to help them as much as she can. Her desire to help her friends is what led her to seek the position, and I think that was so sweet.

ok, this one hit.

One of the major themes here was very important to me and close to my heart. It's easy to feel isolated and secondary when you drift between several groups of friends, but it's so important to remember that it is a two-way street.

Also, I really love how the two major ideas of finding what to do at the talent show, and not fitting in with just one group came together for the act Olive chose to put on.

I really liked this story. It was a very genuine portrayal of self-discovery and how not all LGBTQ+ stories end with either "everything turned out great yaaay!" or "I lost all of my closest people and life is hard :("

I can't give it a 5 though, because the transitions were jarring and left me confused and really affected my reading experience.

It had its moments. It was at its best when the bear felt like he was serving a metaphor instead of just being a strange, literal tale of a human woman being in a relationship with a bear.

However, the overall impression it gave me was.... bizarre and uncomfortable. Wouldn't recommend reading it unironically.
