This novel was riveting and suspenseful. I could not stop listening. That the audio was narrated by Imogen Church was a huge bonus. I loved it.

This book was somewhere between middle grade and young adult, as the protagonist was 14 years old and the story was a little dark. It was also hopeful and imaginative and there were some timely lessons. A kid should never have defend a city with magical baking, but sometimes adults in leadership roles fall down on the job.

The world building in this book was phenomenal. It was on par with Neil Gaiman. Certain parts dragged on a little bit, but I was heavily invested in the characters' outcomes.

This was a symbolic horror novel that had a lot of depth. It tackles racism and fear as one in the same. I thought it was timely. It was brilliant.

The title gives away the ending of each story, so there isn't much suspense, but I appreciated having a Black female protagonist, and these stories were well written and fun. My favorites were TMI, Queeniums for the Greenium, and Foxhunt. Sometimes, what's really horrific is not a "monster."

I fell in love with the details. The carnival itself and the rich characters really drew me in. I was particularly fond of the dancing turtle.

This was a really spooky retelling of Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher. It was very well done. The main character reminded me of Becky Chambers' characters.

A vigilante serial killer romance is definitely better than a vanilla romance for me. This was pretty fun. The only problem I have was that she seemed to give up too much of herself for him. That always annoys me in any romance. However, I really liked the whole spider vibe and I liked the plots twists.
