Opinions: A Decade of Arguments, Criticism, and Minding Other People's Business by Roxane Gay

Some of these articles were excellent. The book was a compilation of articles and interviews written by Roxane Gay and previously published in other media over a 10 year period between 2013 and 2023. The political pieces were spot on and sadly relevant again today. What Roxane had to say about activism was inciteful and helpful, and regardless of what you think of her opinions, they will provoke thought.

I was bored by some of the interviews with celebrities or opinions about things I wasn't interested in. I'm not much into pop culture and didn't even know who some people were. Overall, I though it was a worthwhile. read.

Brilliant and entirely plausible.

I'm not the romance type, and this was very tame, but I liked the characters. Finally, a grumpy woman dates a nice guy instead of the other way around. It was cute.

A dark academia fantasy/horror novel about students with the gift of persuading others to their will. I thought it was clever and raised some good questions about free will and consent. It was a fun ride.

Keanu Reeves is Not in Love With You: The Murky World of Online Romance Fraud by Becky Holmes

If you've ever been on a dating site, this book will help you learn what to avoid.

It is very humorous and delightfully obscene, yet it takes a very in-depth, compassionate look at the victims of romance fraud. One of the points made is that people tend to blame the victim. Part of the book is snapshots of Becky Holmes trolling scammers, but a lot of it is well researched information.

Adventures in female bonding! It isn't exactly realistic that this many women kill their husbands in the same neighborhood at the same time, but you have to suspend disbelief in order to appreciate this dark revenge comedy. The book manages to honor the gravity of the subject of domestic violence during Covid lockdown while adding some levity and imagination to the situation and still be respectful. Funny, not funny. I listened to the book on audio from the library and the narrators did an excellent job. Imogen Church, in particular, is one of my favorites.

I loved this adventurous, mountain-climbing fantasy novel. I can't wait to read the second book. The vivid descriptions of the agonizing climb up the icy mountain made me feel like I was there. I was cold and exhausted. It was so well drawn. It was exciting and different. Read this book with a hot cup of tea.

The book was intriguing and addictive. There was a part I didn't completely buy into, but I still loved it. This is how rich New Englanders behave. The family dynamics and character development were solid.

This is the epitome of cozy fantasy. The characters are endearing and the plot is heartwarming.  There aren't any big surprises, but it doesn't matter.  If you need a feel-good book, this is it.
