Not my favorite finale but man o man do these authors know how to write a fantastic series with a forward moving plot, fun characters and political intrigue FOR KIDS!!! My niece loved the first series and I can absolutely see why it’s such a popular series.

I think I’m going to backtrack to the prequel series before I continue on!

I really enjoyed book 2 in this world! For it to be an epic fantasy, the author really makes the world easy to digest and the characters are a great bonus to an enjoyable adventure.

You can tell this is a middle book because we are a bit more stagnant, with hopes of setting up for the final book in the trilogy! But we learn more about the characters and get some new introductions to some really fun characters which I believe the spin offs follow (at some point..really excited to read these).

I might just get to book 3 before the year is over!!

Brilliant! Brilliant I say!!!
My favorite book of the series! So many feels and I loved the plot kept moving, I think that’s my biggest applause for this installment. There’s less of the “fluff” and “side quests” and more of the actual purpose of this series and obviously the resolution.

I will continue to say this is one of the few movie adaptations that I absolutely love more than the books but they really did use the books as a blueprint and stayed pretty true to the foundation within these pages!  And really brought the book to life on the big screen.

So a couple of things…
The premise, I think, was along the lines of a hauntingly heart felt ghost story and something about kids…maybe maybe not🤔

If you cannot read a lyrical/poetic/wordy book then this won’t be for you lol I have no idea what was going on and I couldn’t even figure out where we were attempting to go.

There’s ALOT of characters and no true line of clarity of who is who. You’re kind of just thrown in the river and expected to float until you figure it out. But when I don’t have a clear path for plot and don’t know who is who…I’m not sticking around “until it gets better”. So I chose to DNF. This is for a certain folk for enjoyment and I am not apart of that party.

This was a lot of fun and really entertaining. Definitely an intriguing set up for a series. From chapter 1 you are literally thrown directly into the start of the mage trials and so it’s a bit busy in regards to the magic system and the characters thrown at you but you get adjusted. I wish we got a little bit of history but you get bits and pieces throughout the story.

There’s highs and lows everywhere. This story as beautifully written just kind of dragged for me which is very weird because there was a heist with fun characters but it just didn’t quite deliver all the way. I looooved Bone Houses and still plan to read her newest book because I just love this world and her storytelling it’s truly unique.
