SKIN: A Dark Fairy-tale Retelling by Sybil Knight

This book was definitely something else! It’s definitely muchhhh on the darker side … know that going in. I would even hesitate to call it romance at all, but not quite erotic horror either.
That being said, I still definitely enjoyed it! I’m personally not the biggest fan of the time jumps for this particular book. It took me a little too far out of the story. I feel like I really would’ve enjoyed the background had it been in chronological order.
The obsession and cat and mouse between these two was done really well though. The plot was interesting and kept me engaged. The writing was well done and I had a fun time reading this.

Looking through other reviews and it’s a total mixed bag, but I agree with all of it - the good and the bad 😂
There are definitely some areas that are lacking in this series (character and relationship development mostly). But at no point during the book did I want to put it down and stop reading. Because of that, it’s still getting four stars from me.
If you want prose and in depth plot, relationship building, and rationality - this probably isn’t the book for you.
If you’re looking for a ton of spice, lots of MMCs, red flags and a bit of danger … pick up the series and dive on in!

This was a fun deep dive into a dark academia world with cult-ish secret society fuckery around every corner. I would definitely recommend the audiobook. You know I LOVE me a full cast, duet narration. 🔥
At Gallows Hill, men rule the world and everyone is up to no good. Poor Skyla really didn’t stand a chance. Her sheltered life left her clueless to what she was walking into. I’m excited to see how she grows throughout everything that’s thrown her way.
Much like many other reviews, I loved that each of her men bring something to the table and have their own personalities. I love them each for different reasons and it’s what makes “why choose” so much fun!
Though I’d say the book itself is medium paced, the relationships are very much INSTAAAAlove - which had me rolling my eyes HARD at many points throughout the book. But overall, I was still able to enjoy this story but it stopped it from being a five star for me.
I won’t even say anything about the ending because I don’t believe it for a second. Just, no. But anyway, I’m off to download the next book and dive on in!

Okay, so I came here for the promise of some top tier somno, but I was not at all expecting to fall in love with these characters! This was such a surprisingly sweet story despite its darker themes.
We’ve got instalove & lots of emotionally damaged characters topped off with some spicyyyyy goodness. I was all for this!

This book was just so dang entertaining and unhinged! *swoooon*
Jack is beyond insane. I have a weak spot for characters that are so out of touch with morality and societal norms that they’re clueless, adorable psychǒ puppies.
Zoe is ruthless in the sense that she never gives up and it makes her just as dēädly in her own way.
Their tension was hot asf in a completely unhinged way and I was here for it!

This was the perfect palette cleanser from all the dark romance I’m out here reading. It was sweet, funny, spicy, and the perfect length.
