”you could rattle the stars” she whispered. “you could do anything, if only you dared”
STILL ONE OF MY FAVOURITE BOOKS. I absolutely loved rereading this book and I can’t wait to reread the rest of the series. Even though I originally wanted to reread this because I forgot who Nox was.
”we all bare scars...mine just happen to be more visible than most.”
The characters are beautifully created. Each of them have struggles and flaws but still amazing in their own ways. Celaena still remains my favourite heroine, alongside Feyre. I didn’t realise how much I actually loved Dorian as well. He’s such a gentleman and loves books. Plus Choal is still my second favourite male character.
”my name is Celaena Sardothein. But it makes no difference if my name’s Celaena or Lillian or bitch, because I’d still beat you, no matter what you like.”
After reading all the books and rereading Throne of Glass, I didn’t realise how much foreshadowing was it in. The couple of times the King glances at his ring and Celaena’s past/future.
Also I never realised how much I liked Celaena/Dorian and Chaol/Celaena’s relationship. Even though I love her with someone in the future books, these two men are still perfect for Celaena.
”with each day he felt the barriers melting. He let them melt. Because of her genuine laugh, because he caught her one afternoon sleeping with her face in the middle of a book, because he knew that she would win.”

The Court of Miracles by Kester Grant
2.75
“How Can a Man be So Handsome and Annoying at The Same Time”
The Court of Miracles is inspired by Les Miserables set in early 1800s Paris where the French Revolution failed. It follows Nina who is a member of the Thieves' Guild of The Court of Miracles and often refers to herself as 'The Black Cat' (pretty much nearly chapter). The court is a criminal underworld that is divided into nine guilds that specialize in different things depending on the guild.
I was so excited for this book but it was a huge letdown and I was honestly so close to dnfing this book. It took such a long time for me to get into this book, it was a big struggle. All the time jumps didn't help as they weren't always clear. There was minimal explanation of the world and history, especially regarding how The Court of Miracles came to be. There are so many characters in this book that it was hard to keep track of which guild they were part of and how important they were.
Nina, I found annoying. I literally had to read about her describing herself as The Black Cat so much that I just wanted to close my book. Despite joining the Guild of Thieves in hopes of finding her sister Azelma, she hardly mentioned trying to find her or even talk about her. It was all about Ettie who she adopted as a younger sister. Additionally, she was also with the Ghosts and never part of her actual Guild, colour me confused. Ettie had little to no personality apart from being pretty and commenting that everyone seems to be in love with Nina. Her only redeeming quality was the ending with the Tiger.
The most interesting character out of the three potential love interests was Montparnasse, the master of Assassins. I really have something about assassins in books because they all own me. I really liked St. Juste at the beginning then he was starting to feel a little flat and boring? I am kinda intrigued about learning more about the prince. Will he be bad? Or good? Time will tell. Nina and Montparnasse is currently the ship I am leaning towards more but still feels bland.
Will I read the next book? Maybe.
“This is how it started;
with a sister weeping in her bed;
a child so terrified she sold herself to a thief;
a girl so lovely, the world went to war to possess her”

February 2022.
I’m in a literal meltdown after rereading this book and literally cannot wait any longer for House of Sky and Breath. I don’t think you all understand the torture. This deserves all the stars, I honestly believe that it might now be my favourite Sarah J Maas book so far, but I can’t say for definite.
I’m so glad that I decided to reread this before the next book because I’m in agony, when I tell you that I’ve been screeching and crying I mean it. The last like 200? or so pages… oh my god. *chefs kiss*
March 2020.
“What blinds an oracle, Bryce Quinlan?”
Is it my favourite SJM book? Nope.
Am I going to cry hopelessly until the next book? You bet I am.
I honestly have no words for this book. I was torn between rating this a 4.5 stars or 5 stars but the last part pushed it towards that five stars. I adored the characters and loved the world, despite how complicated I found it. To me, it didn't feel like an adult novel I don't know whether it's because her previous books or because this is one of the first adult fantasy books I've read. Furthermore, I did think that this book could've been cut shorter as some parts did seem long. But who cares? It's no surprise by now that I worship anything SJM writes. If you continue reading, you will find spoilers. You have been warned.
“The power shall always belong to those who gave their lives to the city”
The relationships. Okay so can we all just take a moment when SJM told us that Danika was a main character? In what freaking planet? Imagine my disappointment when she was killed within the first few chapters. But let's not dwell on that. Bryce and Danika's friendship was so heartbreaking and I would've loved to seen their friendship develop further and seen Danika with Hunt. Nonetheless, they made me want to bawl my eyes out with the scenes they did have and with how much they truly cared and loved each other. Similarly with Bryce and Ruhn. I'm so happy Bryce forgave him in the end and they can finally become a proper family. Also, the relationship between Bryce and Hunt is something I'm definitely living for. Feed me all this romance.
The characters. Bryce freaking Quinlan. Words can not describe this woman. I would worship the ground she stood on because she is an actual queen and no one can tell me otherwise. Is it possible she can become my favorite female character? Absolutely. Her character was phenomenal and she just proves that you don't need to be whatever creature to be a badass. She just proves to everyone that she isn't some party girl and I love that. On the otherhand, Hunt Athalar is an actual smol bean. He is like a modern day version of Rhysand; deadly but a big softie. . Ruhn Danaan is such an interesting character and if we get hardly any scenes of him in the next book then I will riot.
The world. Okay this world was so bloody confusing at first. She was just name-dropping left, right and center, not giving us enough time to absorb what was actually happening. Like, give me a moment to catch on. My brain isn't ready for this. But I love this urban world that is full of angels, demons, fae, mermaids, werewolves, shifters, vampires, witches and so much for. Who doesn't want to live in this modern/futuristic world? Sign me the hell up.
The ending. WHAT WAS THAT ENDING? I need to know more about Jesiba's plan and what Aidas has to do with them. I feel like something is gonna go down but who knows?

The City of Stardust by Georgia Summers
4.0
The City of Stardust is an adult fantasy standalone and follows the life of Violet Everly as she's on a quest to track her mother that left mysteriously in the middle of the night and break a curse that holds over her family though nobody can remember why.
Firstly I want to say that the premise is so intriguing and magical whilst being a little dark at the same time. I love the world despite forgetting that it was set within the modern world. And can be appreciate how beautifully written this book is? I'm in completely awe. The atmosphere was chefs kiss. The world that Georgia Summer creates is breathtaking.
So why wasn't it a five stars read? The story at times felt like it was slow to develop and the pacing was slow in a few places. Like I wished that we got more to Marianne's story, we don't know much about her apart from what we are told through everyone's point of view. While I liked the romance, I do feel as if it was more an afterthought then anything as there's not much. I also felt as if this could've been more marketed as either young adult as there's nothing to really give the impression that it's an adult fantasy apart from the fact that Violet is in her early twenties.
I do recommend this book especially if you're looking for a standalone with fantasy and mystery intertwined. This book did not disappoint and think it was a wonderful debut author. I am looking forward to reading future books by Georgia Summers.

A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L. Jensen
4.25
Danielle L. Jensen really knocked this out of the park, I had high hopes for this book and one of my most anticipated reads of 2024 and it didn’t not disappoint one bit. I loved The Bridge Kingdom so I knew this was going to be just as good.
A Fate Inked In Blood is a Norse Mythology inspired fantasy following the story of Freya who is a gods touched woman fated to save a kingdom, or rather - end it.
I’m wanting the second book in my hands and I love our main protagonist, Freya. She’s powerful and strong whilst keeping true to herself. And Bjorn! New book boyfriend alert. I love how protective he is over Freya, and I absolutely love the banter between the two, their scenes had me squealing.
The writing style was outstanding though I didn’t expect anything less.
The only thing that I felt dragged my rating down a little was it did feel a little slow at times and the storyline felt like it didn’t progress but it was so minor things.
You don’t want to skip out on this book and I would recommend this book to everyone because I know that I would be talking about this book for a long time.

Lost and Found: A Steamy, MMF, Friends to Lovers College Romance by Luna Whitney
3.5
Trying to find MMF books where it's focus is not primarily on the spice is hard so I was pleasantly surprised with the books. I love that the book focuses a lot on building the friendship within the first half of the book before they begin to explore their feelings with each other more.
I thought that the characters were well written and all fitted well together. Though I would describe this more of a polyamorous relationship as they all love each other rather than Sasha only loving the Caleb and Smith.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
