This is such a gorgeous book. I loved it so much - despite it being a comedy.

I am so disappointed. I would genuinely rate this a -1.5-2/5 if Shelley’s writing wasn’t as beautiful as it was. Mary lead such an interesting life and i expected to see that come through in this novel; unfortunately it was just plain boring. I came so close to DNFing this book at least 12 times - even when I only had 10 pages left.

I enjoyed this book. I love anything horror, especially if it is King. The writing in this book was wonderful, and the overall vibes were some of my favourite. I did have to take breaks from this book, especially because of the nature of some of the scenes, but other than it, it is a wonderful story.

This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time!! Who doesn’t love a book where
the character vanishes into thin air?
The ending did feel rushed but it was a beautiful novel.

Edgar is one of my all time favourite writers. The stories in this book are beautiful and so well written.

Feminine rage & feminine wrath are depicted so beautifully in this novel. It is gorgeously written. It takes what we know as feminism and completely rewrites it. This book kept my focus and genuinely had me contemplating what morality and mortality truly means. It takes the whole “eating men = feminism” trope to a whole new level!!

I picked up this book as it promised a dystopian, cannibalistic horror. Unfortunately it wasn’t as terrifying and gut-wrenching as I had hoped for.

It was beautifully written - and a wonderful critique on greed, capitalism and consumerism. It was also a beautiful anti-factory work - I just wish it was more horror focused. (Although, I suppose it is horror focused. Just more so the horrors of capitalism instead of the horrors of cannibalism.)
