My first manga! I'm hooked and utterly distraught that I have to wait for the next 4 volumes to arrive from some library other than my own. 😭 This fills up my Ghibli loving heart and I am putting this on my To Buy list.

This is my 3rd trek through fiction with Neil Gaiman, and while I did enjoy the story, it doesn't top either Stardust or Coraline. Perhaps my own sentimental attachments are to blame but that's usually the case with me.
I will say that I was intrigued enough to be left wanting more. I however don't often enjoy being left wanting. On the same token, I'm not even sure what more I'd want from it. I just don't feel quite satisfied though, even after listening to the bonus material interview - although I did enjoy that addition very much.
I am a big fan of Children protagonists and their viewpoints, especially as a mother of a 7 year old. I tried to put him into the place of the boy with no name and imagine how he would navigate the events of the book. There's just something magical and free about a child's perspective that I'll always value.

Delightful and fun, a great follow up to Howl's Moving Castle and Castle in the Air. I enjoyed the children characters, though Charmain was quite sheltered and privileged. It was especially fun to see Sophie navigate parenthood. A chaotic romp I believe only Jones could deliver.

This is the first one in which I still have questions at the end! Still liked it, even though it took me awhile to actually like Gretchen. But i adore this series and I'm gonna be devastated when it's over... please let there be more. I still need Malcolm and Dell and Yan stories!

Alex gave me huge Jessica Jones vibes, which really hooked me. There's a lot going on and I really had to remind myself what was happening each time I picked the book back up. I might prefer to physically read Hell Bent (book 2) instead of listening to the audio book, but that's just a personal preference. The narration was excellent, however, and the interview with the author was so fun to listen to. I do truly look forward to more of this series!
