Remote Control by Nnedi Okorafor
4.0
The way Okorafor creates a stunning story with intricate world building and character development in under 100 pages never ceases to amaze me. This got me out of my mini reading slump and it was definitely due to how quick I read it because of the short page length but also wonderful storytelling.
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
3.0
This was a very dark book which should be expected with Gillian Flynn but this book was hard to digest at times. I enjoyed the plot twists and the mystery of this book, but this wasn’t really an enjoyable reading experience for me and I just found myself wanting it to be over and done with. Definitely my most disappointing book from this author but I wouldn’t say I hated or even disliked this book. Just didn’t hit the mark for me.
The Night Masquerade by Nnedi Okorafor

Nnedi Okorafor truly has a gift when it comes to writing and creating beautiful stories. This book is a masterpiece that closes out such an amazing series. Okorafor really left nothing on the table with this one. She really took us on a rollercoaster of emotions with this story and I loved every second of it. I could feel the pain and despair the main character was going through so clearly. I found myself caring so deeply for the main character, Binti, and her finding her purpose in the world. WOW this book was just WOW!

I’M SO MAD THAT I WAITED THIS LONG TO READ THIS BOOK ONLY TO LOVE IT THIS MUCH
Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston
5.0
THIS BOOK WAS PHENOMENAL! From the engaging storytelling to the multiple shocking plot twists to the fantastical world building. Everything has so much thought put into it and almost nothing was left for the readers to be confused about, but still intrigued to see what’s to come next. Just thinking about the impact this book could have on a young black girl around Amari’s age seeing themselves saving the world, it’s indescribable. This story was truly flawless like the author created such amazing characters and when I tell you this book had me dying laughing at times. This book held the ability and range to be lighthearted and fun at times, but heart-wrenching and dead serious when necessary. This series is going to be something to look out for because the potential it has, CRAZY!!
The Girl Before by JP Delaney

This book would have been SO much better if it was a sci for thriller and the plot was the futuristic technology base house was turning against the main characters like a modern Smart House. The plot of the actual book was just okay. It was an average mystery with an average plot twist at the end, definitely nothing remarkable.
