salt slow by Julia Armfield

julia armfield writes with the kind of clarity and grace that most writers spend decades trying to learn. to say that she’s a master of her craft is insufficient. every story is all consuming.
The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
3.0
bit funny pacing at times but really solid fantasy, well written and fun to read, a refreshing approach to the genre. got me out of a reading slump and I liked it.
oh ps. loved that there was no romance. so uncommon, but it took nothing away from the book and I think made rin so compelling.

reading this felt like having a long conversation with an old friend
Family Lexicon by Natalia Ginzburg

a book of contradictions: abrupt but expansive, casual but exquisite, simple but complex, poetry but essay, autobiography but novel. as always with Ginzburg, you cannot afford to miss a single word.
