Did not finish book. Stopped at 29%.

I really wanted to finish this. I accidentally read the wicked villains series out of order, so I’ve read three other books in this series. I didn’t feel comfortable with how their dynamic came together in this one. I can’t explain why in a coherent way, I’ve read more than my fair share of dark romance over years but I feel like Herclues was so genuinely good and was seriously minding his business when he got preyed upon by Megara and Hades made me feel icky.

The point of this book is smut. But it works because the characters do have their motivations and there is a plot. I was in shock while reading it, the type of shock where you have to know what they’re going to do next.

I’m reading the series out of order (I do this every time accidentally,) but this is currently my least favorite book. Love the diversity. If you prefer novels where the conflict is mainly internal, this is better for you!

This is the only book I’ve ever read where chapters switching from preset and past don’t bother me. It’s perfect, tells the story so we’ll. Sad and hopeful and reflective and inspiring. Snatches you in and makes you root for the main characters. Great exploration of young love and grief. Makes you value time.
