Cool idea, mediocre execution. Reads like a first novel, with characters pointing out the metaphors loudly and telegraphing things. Character vocabulary and voices weren't consistent and didn't feel realistic. Ending wasn't satisfying. I'd forgive all of this if the characters had any real charisma, but the only one who did was Ramsey, and it wasn't much. The marketing also spun this as having more of a Gaiman, dark fantasy vibe than the gritty action vibe it does have, so I may have come into it with different expectations.
