I would have given it a 3, but given the time and circumstances Nellie Bly faced, I gave it a 4. Interesting.

Love Hunger Games.

Gotta say, don't really get this. Must be my
sense of humor, or maybe lack thereof.

I am always looking for new books to tempt my students, and because I have some voracious readers, I have to keep well ahead of them. I've started trolling for books that may make it on to the Newberry 2013 list and I read a whole lot of speculation about Wonder. I just finished it the other day.

Oh, this book. I just love it. Auggie is a boy who has some pretty severe facial deformities and starts fifth grade in a prestigious prep school after being homeschooled to deal with the multitude of corrective surgeries in the early stages of his life.

This is Auggie's story of his transition to middle school, an ugly place at the best of times, and how he struggles, and perseveres. Auggie's story is told from his perspective, as well as the perspectives of his sister and classmates.

Love. There were tears, of course, but they were worth it. Read this. Have your kids read it.

I am fascinated and want to read more of Gillian Flynn's books. I have to admit, I wonder about a person who can write something so intricate and twisted.

What a great read.
