Beg, Borrow or Steal by Susie Tate

This book was so much more vanilla than I had hoped and idky I had that misplaced hope, but I did. Also like.... they argued and broke up SO MANY TIMES over the fact that she's a stripper that I questioned if they were even together until literally the last 5% of the book. Every time they agreed to disagree about her job or the fact that she didn’t let anyone help her, they started the fight all over again.

I might be being a tad unfair with the rating but I genuinely don’t think so. River is dumb af for believing Hudson when he said that Tate asked him to finger her, but she was literally 14 so I will let it slide but like.......... we could've saved about 300 pages if we'd just *communicated*

This book doesn’t deserve 4/5 but I was struggling to not give it 5/5 so let’s take it as a win. Essentially, feminism stepped back several years with this one but boy howdy I loved it. Mia is a damsel as fuck until she bites someone's dick off and Nico is SO overprotective but Mia is cool with it and low-key same.

Not a fan of FMC being 17 for the majority of her relationship with Pierce. Also not a fan of Ryan dying as soon as his redemption arc started hitting but I understand why the author did it.

It wouldn’t be a Shantel Tessier book if there wasn’t paternity drama and a side plot that relate to characters from other books and one thing Shantel does exceedingly well is write a group of badass mfers. However, in this book, it was the side characters - the Kings - and not the MMC Luca.

Unfortunately, my mind's eye pictured Ruarc as Machine Gun Kelley despite the fact that I hate MGK. He just gave off the same vibez I guess.

This book was one of those that I instantly adored most of the characters - except the MMC.

The scene where Fausto lets Guilio go is horrifically beautiful and I SOBBED bro, which is how this book earned its 5/5.

This book was the epitome of the “you were good, I wanted you to be great” quote from Abby Lee. It was really good. Fun plot. But I felt it could’ve been better and expected it to be due to the TikTok hype.

Also the city felt way too small for there to be so many families running different areas. It felt like there were too many fingers in the pie, you know?

This also could’ve been better if our girlie wasn’t obsessed with birds and didn’t curse with “bird words” as they’re called in the books. (i.e. “oh swan!” Instead of “shit”). Are you five?

I did enjoy the phone line aspect, that was cool lol.
