The Brothers Hawthorne by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

I wish we would've gotten more of Jameson and his uncle because his uncle seemed like a really decent guy compared to Jameson's dad. Hopefully in the 5th book, we see more of that relationship.
Maybe I missed something, but I don't see why Jameson was so reluctant to tell Avery that his grandmother was still alive. Other than the whole inheritance issue, I don't see how it was a huge deal. Avery doesn't want the money anyway lol.
I also spent most of the book texting my friend - who hasn't read this series, mind you - "If Grayson doesn't get a happy ending, I'll riot".
The author is very, very good at making you really FEEL for these boys and their individual plights very viscerally. I fell HARD for both Jameson & Greyson's battles to figure out what "family" was to them.

I was surprised that I found this book to be a 5/5, even going into it knowing I'd read #2 and rated it a 5/5 as well. It is a insta-love type of book, just like #2, but I don't vibe with slow burns so it worked for me.

Long story short, they get together, she’s almost raped twice by her stepbrother, he thinks she’s cheating on him with his brothers at a party, they break up, she’s almost raped by her stepbrother again, the whole world finds out about the two of them, everything’s okay in the end. I didn’t like this one because it felt predatory. I get it. A teacher/student romance IS predatory but most of the books with that trope don’t FEEL predatory and this one did. He controlled everything she did, made her be a “good girl” for him, etc. etc. etc.

there were almost as many typos as there were unnecessary uses of the f word, and there were several times when we'd get three f-bombs in a single sentence and eight in a paragraph. also that boy is not 11 mf inches long, ong.

Okay 1) I put this book off for so long because I thought I’d read (and hated) a book by this author but I hadn’t lol. 2) I didn’t think I’d like the first two so I started with this book and now I have to go back and at least read Sloan's.
Also lowkey funny AF that Malek is like "u poor sweet angel baby prostitute, let me save you." and then finds out she isn't in fact a prostitute just dresses less modest than he figures she should lol.

Basically, MMC completely and totally isolates FMC and makes her dependent on him and rapes her frequently (but she cums so it's okay, apparently.) And then the book ends with her trying to commit suicide and he don’t allow that either so like...

I expected SO MUCH MORE from this book bro, I’m SO disappointed. When booktok mentions hockey books this is like the number 2 one they bring up and I had high hopes.
Basically 40% of the book is Olivia and Carter going back and forth on if they wanna be together or not. Olivia doesn't wanna date a f*ckboy (Fair) but Carter proves over and over and over again that he isn't a f*ckboy anymore and that he really cares for her and Olivia continuously slut shames him at every available opportunity including after they sleep together for the first time and he proves, again, that he's in it for the long haul with her.
30% of the book is Olivia getting her p*ssy ate and Carter taking photos. (Unsure why either of them thought THAT would end well.)
20% of the book is the third act breakup because Carter pretends he cheated on Olivia to protect her from finding out the photos were leaked. I will give Olivia credit for being very confident that Carter wouldn’t cheat on her despite calling him a whore for majority of the book.
The last 20% was deadass Carter’s proposal. Like why was it SO LONG?
