Really, 1.5/5, and only because of the way it ended with Eddie and what Rabbit did for Dolly in the field.

SJ Tilly has never not once let me down. This book was low-key heartwrenching and Val's self-esteem taking a HIT when she finds out what Dom did....... visceralllllll.

Mom leaves on a business trip and homegirl is f*cking her stepdad-to-be 45 pages in. Like that's WILD.

This was better than I thought it would be but worse than I wanted it to be lol.

I will say I have never once spoken to a stranger - in any capacity, much less over the phone - and told them I didn't use sex toys, but I guess I'm just built different than Miss Nola.

Also, per the tagline on the book, no he fucking doesn’t. He uses a fur lined paddle, ropes, a butt plug and a vibrating dildo this whole book. That’s literally it. And if it’s referring to Nola as the “toy” it still doesn’t make sense.

This author is very hit or miss for me, but this one was admittedly a miss for me. I really wanted to like it but I just didn't. And it wasn't the subject matter at all, I didn't mind that and actually actively was seeking it out when I found this book. I just didn't mesh with it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The smut in this was incredible and the only thing that could’ve made it better was… the absence of daddy kink believe it or not. And I say that as someone who adores Daddy Kink in books. To me, it was just very cringe, but admittedly, daddy kink is hard to write without it sounding cringey.

No offense but Ransom had no business being a bodyguard when the literal Bratva is out for his blood, but okay. I feel like this book had entirely too little CNC to have been tagged as having CNC in it. Ransom engages in a CNC scene with other women and they BARELY touch on him doing it with FMC, but like....... there was so little smut in general it felt very misleading lol.

Basically, if someone said “how was it?” I’d say “It was good” but if someone said “what’s a good bodyguard/heiress book to read?” I wouldn’t rec this one first.

Also the tagline is cheesy as fuck lol.

First her parents tell her they cant afford to send her to college, her math teacher dies, her mom cheats on her dad and they separate, her boyfriend is a DOUCHEBAG and her bestie is being rude af too. No wonder she cheats on her boyfriend and ends up f*cking her teacher lol.

This was basically a less good version of Sicko, which was already not a good book, but it kept me entertained enough to finish it and I can't say that about some of the books I try to read so. I will say the aftermath of Rigger finding out about the rape and how he proceeds with his relationship with Navy, with her recovery in mind, was handled well in my opinion.
