The Warrior Midwife by E.P. Bali
5.0
It’s a slow start BUT it’s great once you get 15% in. The magic system is so interesting to me - like the how to magic works and what she uses it for and the idea that midwives are held in such a high regard is so fantastic. I love the demon plot line and everything. The fact the fae know nothing about humans also cracks me up. I truly enjoyed this book and am excited to read the rest of the series.
A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court by Mark Twain
5.0
"A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" is an engaging and thought-provoking novel that takes readers on a journey back to the days of King Arthur. As a 25-year-old girl, I found the protagonist's resourcefulness and use of modern knowledge in a medieval world captivating. The book raises intriguing questions about progress and clashes between eras, while also providing strong female characters. Mark Twain's satire and social commentary add depth to the story, though the dense prose and occasional slow pacing may challenge some readers. Overall, it's an enjoyable and worthwhile read for those interested in exploring different time periods and reflecting on societal norms.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

"Catching Fire" brilliantly captures the mental health struggles and PTSD experienced by its characters. Suzanne Collins delves into the emotional aftermath of the Hunger Games, portraying Katniss's nightmares, flashbacks, and survivor's guilt with authenticity. The book explores trust issues, emotional detachment, and the broader societal impact of trauma. Collins handles these themes with sensitivity, providing a relatable depiction of mental health challenges. While the series is dystopian fiction, the portrayal of mental health contributes to a holistic understanding of the characters' experiences. The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake
5.0
This is what I call a mind F of a book. The World - Amzaing, strong. The magic system unlike anything I have ever seen, and honestly I want a book about the magic system. The characters are raw and so strongly written. The way the book is written makes me feel so dumb and small compared to the characters - I had to google things a few times to be honest. It's full of surprises and will leave you
With so many questions that you’ll be driving to the book store right before it closes for book 2.
