Emma is 1 year sober and expecting things to finally start falling into place, but each step forward feels like 2 steps back. Emma goes on a journey of not just being sober, but learning to 'human' while sober. All she wants to be is 'normal', but with so many sober first, instead she feels awkward and weird. Ben is so sweet, and while I thought the resolution of their fight needed more flushing out, I'm glad he was patient with her. The narrative that her AA group sells reminds me a LOT of Western Christianity. "Just give up your will and God will work it all out." It's initially very attractive, particularly when we feel lost and out of control, but over time the concepts ring hollow. I was thrilled when she shared how she was feeling and found group that was a better fit for the next leg of her journey.

This is my first romantic suspense novel, and I can see the appeal. The romance and thriller elements are just about 50/50, which allows the majority of the tension to be external to the relationship.
When Nevaeh gets kidnapped my gut was in my throat.  I am so glad she was found perfectly safe, but it was weird sort of let down. Like we were waiting for the absolute worst, the  things are just fine, but not really of course.
The final showdown was super quick, but it definitely delivered what I was hoping for. I would have liked a bit more insight on the stalker, but I'm thrilled with their HEA. The epilogue is clearly setting up the next book, and while I enjoyed the writing style, I'm not sure if romantic suspense is my cup of tea. It definitely kept me turning the pages though!

Vaughan really knows how to snatch your wig man. Just when you think things are settling, WHAM! Meteor, jellyfish, fire, kidnapping, MURDER!!!! I'm trying to take my time and not binge this since I'm catching up with publication dates, but I'm too invested to slowdown.

This book is for recovering evangelicals, especially black women, who are trying to reclaim trust in themselves, honor their physical bodies, and embrace their sexuality. Lyvonne's honesty and openness is refreshing, and also unnerving. While parts of it are a little cheesy for my taste, I would absolutely read it again. I have so much spiritual baggage to unpack, and there is a lot in here that speaks to my current situation.

Bravo Jess! This was so stinking good. The pining, the illicit smut, the historical setting. It all came together in such a delicious little story that completely captured my attention and nearly brought me to tears. Miles' smut writing as an outlet for his greif was so beautiful, and Charlie's so sweet and honorable it hurt. I cannot wait to read more from Jess Everlee.

Everyone in Ghosthollow has secrets,  and Lou and Clementine are no exceptions. They're both running from their pasts when they run into each other, and sparks begin to fly. This is the slowest of slow burns, but mostly because these characters refuse to talk to each other. But even outside of that, this book felt really slow. I can't say if it was the writing style, pacing, or both. The pining is top notch, the banter is fun, and the mystery/thriller aspect was pretty interesting. If you're looking for a queer cowboy romance with highish stakes, this might be the right fit for you.

Cute little short read! The misunderstanding was realistic, and the things that had me squinting my eyebrows at the start ultimately get explained. I wouldn't mind getting a full story on these guys.

This story was cute and I liked watching their relationship develop, but the art style didn't really work for me and the resolution was a bit flat.

This feels like a little selah besides Billy. These are so much more thoughtful than I expected. I could see myself rereading all of these.
