I really enjoyed this! This collection of senior citizens have lived such interesting lives, but they are not content to go gentle into that good night. We go on this wild journey with Daphne, Art, Lydia, and Ziggy as they navigate being made invisible by age and circumstance, but they see each other. Daphne is a hoot and a half, and I absolutely love how feisty she is. Their stories are interconnected through their local community center, and if this isn't a ringing endorsement for 3rd spaces and community building, I don't know what is. We've got a bit of mystery, grief, loneliness, and despair, and a lot of love.

This book feels more literary Fiction to me with a strong romance subplot than straigh up romance to me. I think if I knew that going in I could have adjusted my expectations, but this was still pretty good. Renee's family, especially her brothers, made me want to spit nails. I had to pause the book every time their garbage behavior was on display. Ket Siong was alternatingly interesting and flat. His main character trait was being obsessed with Renee, but the mystery aspect gave him a bit of depth. The wrap up gave me all the warm and cozy feels, and for that I bumped the rating. I would try more from this author now that I have a better idea what to expect.

Ok I'm officially hooked. All the converting storyline and characters. The nudity still catches me off guard, but it serves a purpose.

This family stays surrounded by mysterious deaths. I had some idea who was behind it, but I was missing parts. The food is the highlight of these stories, and I can almost trick myself into thinking I would actually try to make some of it. A girl can dream.

This was sweet and hot. I didn't realize it was erotica until the first nipple made an appearance. (Page 22) I loved all the queer rep and the remaining of life as a lesbian couple in Edwardian England. The history that's woven in is pretty cool too.

This is possibly the most profound book I have ever read. It made me reflect on all the toxic and harmful messaging I've received about love throughout my life, and think about how I want to do love more intentionally in my daily life. It is rare for me to find a book that I can recommend to absolutely everyone, but this is the book. I honestly believe this book and embracing a love ethic will change my life, and could change the world at large. This will be the first book I purchase in 2025 and my first choice of gift for anyone I know. Read this book. You won't regret it.
