A short, fun essay from Stephen King, released as a broadside, on the topic of questions folks ask him as he signs books or sits in the café just trying to read and eat lunch alone.

Though I enjoyed Desperation much, much more, The Regulators was a fun experiment. Desperation was an examination of the cruelty and providence of God…The Regulators an examination on the maddening pull of television. As always with King, his talents at characterization are turned up to 11. Whether he is working with a character that will only be with us for mere pages (so tragic, the missing underwear) or a character that makes it through to the bitter end, his talents at making us care about these people are unmatched. I know we revisit the Can-Toi again later on the path to the Dark Tower, and I look forward to that. Desperation and The Regulators are an enjoyable two book journey.

Another excellent installment of Carl and Donuts quest through the dungeon. I thought the train concept dragged a bit toward the end, but the hijinks the characters sweat, stab, and kill their way through are as entertaining as ever. Switched over to the audio for this one. The reading is freaking awesome. Definitely the best way to tag along with Carl, Donut, Katia, and Mongo. Onto book 4!!

The final installment is really the best. I shed a tear when I first read it, I shed a tear again today when I concluded the reread. I had forgotten the final description of the events in Alabama. Gives the story a darker, more realistic ending than the excellent film version, IMHO. This reread cements The Green Mile as a definite top ten favorite in the King canon.

The saving of Melinda Moores is one of my favorite parts of this story. When Melinda asks how the X-rays looked, after being healed by John Coffey, and Edgecomb replies that they were clear, that there was no cancer at all, and Hal breaks down in sobs…gets me every single time.
Now onto the final installment. Percy, John, and Wharton have a meeting coming…

Definitely the most disturbing of the installments of the Green Mile. Dark and excellently constructed.

Second installment of The Green Mile. The best part of this story at this point is the voice of the narrator, Paul. You can feel the awe of experiencing Mr. Jingles, the danger of Warton, and the agony and lack of focus caused by an awful bout with a urinary tract infection.
The story is still building a huge head of steam. Onto book 3…
