Though I enjoyed Desperation much, much more, The Regulators was a fun experiment. Desperation was an examination of the cruelty and providence of God…The Regulators an examination on the maddening pull of television. As always with King, his talents at characterization are turned up to 11. Whether he is working with a character that will only be with us for mere pages (so tragic, the missing underwear) or a character that makes it through to the bitter end, his talents at making us care about these people are unmatched. I know we revisit the Can-Toi again later on the path to the Dark Tower, and I look forward to that. Desperation and The Regulators are an enjoyable two book journey.
