These books are fun to read. Not the greatest thing ever but they are nice. Looks of plot happens to the character, and the characters just react to things. Fun to listen to though especially when doing something else.

These books are pure fun. The world is interesting and well thought out but don’t expect extreme worldbuilding or character work. They are fun and you are just along for the ride(plot). The characters just kinda do what’s necessary and the plot happens to them.

The style of this book is rather stiff and formal but also rich. The characters are therefore not as well understood. The style keeps the characters rather distant. However, despite this I loved this book. It is mostly plot driven and the characters are interesting but I would not say that I truly understand them. I got confused who was who most of the time but I still enjoyed it. Going to continue the series.

The writing in this book is terrible. Brandon Sanderson can come up with interesting worlds, lore, and magic systems, however he thinks the reader is far too stupid to understand and make connections on their own so he has to spell it out for you multiple times. He even goes so far as to tell you that a scene and object is a metaphor and a symbol. The prose is so matter of fact and the characterize of these characters is done so sloppily. He thinks he’s gonna get you with the big plot twist in the end but I honestly think this book demonstrates his lack of talent and skill with the written word.

Boring. Why have the reader understand the characters when the author can just tell you everything? The writing is so matter of fact and not well down at all. The characters are one dimensional because the author does not trust the reader to understand them. The reader is reminded of things again and again ad nauseam. Not interesting and worst of all, not well written.

Fantastic book. My only qualm is why does the narrator do accents when reading out a quote from someone? It was jarring.
