The best fiction I've read this year. Excellent story, very engaging, and lovely characters. It reminds me of Cavalier and Clay but with games instead of comics.

Too much hubris! Not enough payoff. Prose is oftentimes ridiculously corny. Character development is over the top (hence the hubris comment). It feels like Mr Sanderson has become famous since the last series of his I've read, and now he feels he can publish whatever he wants and force us to sit through 1300 pages of it.

I wish I could give it a 4.5. The plot is excellent. The characters are a bit cookie cutter. It's 1,200 pages - it would have been much better had the author reduced it by about 25%.

If it weren't Star Wars, I'd give it 2 stars.
