Read this again because of Flanagan's new Netflix series (and because it is spooky szn).
Stands the rest of time. Creepy and wonderfully mad.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 36%.
There were so many red herrings throughout and the main characters intrusive thoughts really got in the way of the plot.
I predicted the ending pretty early on and skipped to the last few chapters to confirm.

Just not my kind of mystery novel.

Such a cute read! Original plot with enemies to lovers vibes. A nice campy read if you need one

I read this in pieces because it is heavy, but gosh it is so beautiful.

I still like Beach Read the best, but this is a solid second.

I liked this much better than the previous ones. While the ending was much more subdued, I still have so many questions

This was good, it just could not keep my attention. Will come back to it
We Are All Good People Here by Susan Rebecca White

I enjoyed how the author handled the multi-generational aspects of this book. The plot touches on hard topics, but never delves deeply into them. It's a story of friendship and how that can change drastically through time and experiences.
Where the Dead Sit Talking by Brandon Hobson

dark emotional
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated

3.5

This was a tough read. Hobson takes us inside the mind of a teenage boy who is in the foster system. He has experienced trauma, so we see his attempts to cope and to find himself outside of the trauma. It's thought-provoking.
Lots of TWs.

Fascinating. A little confusing on audio. Still incredibly good.
