enjoyed this sequel. it was fun reading the expansion of the side characters in the series, it felt almost seamless from the first book and the pacing was just right. ngl but some parts did spook me and this book’s contents definitely felt heavier than the first. overall, a solid read!! + I hope I don’t have to wait another 5 years for the third installment (I will cry) 

super compelling and fun read!! enjoyed the way dark academia themes were discussed (even though none of it was subtle at all) but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of reading this novel. really enjoyed Alex as the main character. Leigh Bardugo has such a way with writing flawed yet lovable characters. yum yum yum 

slow burn was yum 😋 but the conflict and world building wasn’t that interesting to me. also wish I cared more about miss girl serena 

felt like the whole thing with them being witches could’ve been introduced more seamlessly (even though they did have a prequel about it all). it still felt a little jarring to have magic be in the present world, out of the blue. it was still a fun read though!! 1 more to go 

ok this is my favourite couple so far, i doubt any other pairing in this series can top them. they’re actually NORMAL?? they’re not fucked up and they actually seem like they have more of a solid foundation than the first two couples!! i’m shocked 😭 kira is likeable and it has been so much more pleasant to read from her pov (sorry liz) and her alien bf actually is sweet and cares very deeply about her consent?? BOOm. never would’ve imagined reading about this from this series tbh. there were quite a few moments in this book where i actually thought them to be sweet and that has never once occurred to me so far while binging this series. very decent and i am very, very, very pleasantly surprised ;-;

this couple is actually so annoying to read about, i kind of hate them. liz makes so many dumb decisions and her relationship with her alien mans was not it. ‘unhealthy’ would be the nicest choice of words to describe them LMAO they’re fucked up ;-; and the way liz’s whole demeanour and attitude changed right after she did the nasty with him was shocking HAHAHA like damn that alien dick really converted her 🙏 i need another drink after reading this book in one shot

this was a lot to take in LMAO and really disturbing tbh BUT georgie’s commentary was so funny actually and it did keep me entertained throughout!! so.. love that for her!  she was down so bad for that alien dick tho i was in shambles. and the fact that vectal calls her “sweet resonance”?? lmaoo i need a drink

miss ma’am reed .. for someone who claims to be big on sisterhood.. i don’t think you know what that means!! she’s a complete mess in this book 😭💔 girl i need you to do some reflection!! i think that would do us all some good. also good job for you constance for standing up for yourself!! as a fellow girl with no backbone too, i am proud !! and idk why but josh annoyed me so much lmao like all he did was constantly sneak a glance at reed and look away blushing THROUGHOUT this entire book?? and then cheats on his girlfriend but doesn’t has the balls to break up with her?? ICK. alsO that ending NOOOOOOOO 

was always curious about ariana so i was somewhat satisfied by how much we learnt about her in this book (girlie was going thru it AND unhinged). was kind of bored of the plot though even though it is fast paced like all the other installations of the private series 🤔 maybe i’m just not that invested in ariana and thomas lmao.
