This was fantastic. The author knows this experience first hand and gently yet logically explains how to take care of yourself when you’re in that place. PHENOMENAL! The writing style is perfect for those of us who are neurodivergent (the author is as well) and she even has a short cut version! I listened to the audiobook and it was great! I also bought the hardback book! She also is very considerate of black women and their hair! Perfect touch!

Fantastic memoir! It even made me look at graphic novels differently. It was easy to digest and took the reader on a journey of figuring out how one identifies. It also gave me insight into what someone different from me goes through just to find a place in the word to exist. We all go through that in some way, shape, or form and this book was a wonderful reminder that non of us are alone in our quest to find ourselves and our place.

This graphic novel was my first of its kind. I think the hardest part to get past was the lack of “chapters.” The story just kind of moved. That was different but after awhile I got somewhat used to it. It definitely makes me want to try out another one!

This was a beautiful story. I listened to the audiobook (the narration was fantastic). Being inside the mind of a 17 year old black boy who was a critical thinker, emotional, sensitive, and honest was such a privilege. I throughly enjoyed it!

I’m really enjoyed the audiobook. I relate to Quinta so much. It’s also very interesting to see how a lot of aspects of her life informs her character on Abbott Elementary.

I love how this series is adding context to the show and what happens after.
