I love the concept of this book, the partnership between Benjy and Hetty, and the magic system. However, I had a lot of frustrations in terms of scenes starting and stopping abruptly. This is essentially a murder mystery and so many times Hetty seems to be in the middle of pursuing a lead and then just dropping it. Overall, a good read and will seek out future work by this author.

This book was so good and intense in a way that I wasn't expecting.
