This book is about 40 pages too long. And what I mean is the 40 pages where f*g is splattered across the page should have been heavily edited. Also, shoehorned racism and an unnecessary drop of the hard r n-word.
Moshfegh is a gifted writer, the last hundred pages reflect this, but I haven’t come across such an ‘edgy’ woman in a very long time. “Oh, she’s raw, she tells it like it is,” can happen without the flippant use of slurs.

More people should be writing stories like this. The sheer understanding of these characters is incredible and the conversion of them from classic comics to a graphic novel worthy of the times is something to be applauded.
Also, wish more people would like the Joker like this: a booger.

The last story is really the banger of the collection.
Moshfegh really rides the line between raw and offensive, and at some points may cross it. I find myself wondering if she rides it a little too closely wherein it’s no longer edgy and turns mean spirited.

Apparently, the minute you shave a girls head she has to be a Tank Girl 2.0. The cover had me interested, the character design intrigued me, but the story was rough and the characterization was trite.
A combination of punk and voodoo is a great idea, but a white protagonist should have been reconsidered. The supporting characters would have been a better story to follow.

A beautiful ode to art and paintings, although, sometimes the poetry is lacking
