The Storm and the Tide: Tragedy, Hope and Triumph in Tuscaloosa by Lars Anderson
5.0
I was a student in my second to last semester in Alabama's distance education MLIS program on April 27, 2011. Cohorts full of students watched the news like hawks from afar, breathing sighs of relief when it was announced that everyone in the Libary Studies department had come through the storm safely, rejoicing when first responder classmates were honored for their work.
This book ... I am so glad, so grateful, that this book exists on a deeply personal level.

My Beloved World by Sonia Sotomayor
5.0
The breadth of experiences Justice Sotomayor shares in this memoir is awe-inspiring. Some of them in particular spoke to situations in my own life and made me doubly glad I picked this book when I did.
And Rita Moreno's work on the audiobook is simply lovely.

sigh.
sigh.
Jeremy Poldark by Winston Graham

Checked this out on Kindle because I couldn't BEAR where the writers of the Poldark tv show left series 1. (Cliffhanger on a cliff. OMG.) Tore right through it in the space of an hour and a half while sitting on a beach.
