I liked the tropes of the book, Fae, mythology, magic, witches, fated mates, etc. I thought the characters were good and the plot was solid. I liked the book, but I thought it was a little too poetic in the hazy dream memory aspect that I lost interest sometimes, it’s just not my thing. All in all, 3 out of 5 stars.

“The Unwanted Queen,” by Allison Anderson

I literally loved everything about this whole series. This book is book 5 of The Cartographer’s War series. If you liked the first 4 then this one is a must read. I have only read a few books that give me similar vibes to ACOTAR or TOG but this is one of them but way better. The plot in this series in my opinion is better than SJM and the characters were just as good, and I felt super attached to all of them. I loved the Fae VS Mage dynamic, and it felt very unique and fresh in that aspect because my brain was thinking they are like the same side, but they aren’t in the book and the hate has to be a point they must overcome. The romance was everything I wanted, and I was dying to figure out what was going to happen. 5 out of 5 stars, I love this series.

“Hurting on my skin is so much better than when the hurt is on the inside.”

“Cherry Auction,” by Stasia Black

This book was a lot darker than I thought it would be. I really liked how both characters have been emotional and physical trauma and struggled currently with self-harm and mental illness, it added a layer of depth that I was expecting. It did have the BDSM and smut stuff that I knew it was going to have but just a lot more character development which I loved. I thought the book was super interesting and I was glued to the story as it unfolded. 4 out of 5 stars.

I liked the Ascent of the Nightingale more than I thought I would. I thought the insta lust would bother me a little, but it really didn’t bother me at all, it was written well. The plot was solid, and I stayed interested the whole time. The characters were good, nothing I would change. All in all, it was an enjoyable book to read, and I’m excited for when I will be able to read book 2.  4 out of 5 stars.

“I know he loves me, but his love is a scary, wild thing.”

“The First Alpha King,” by Belle Knock

I loved book 1 of this series and this book took a spin I did not see coming. After reading book 1 I expected this book to fall along the same lines, but it surprised me. It starts out with a female ruled society where men are used for what they can provide for like breeding and hunting. The men going crazy like book 1 was more build up then I expected and not remotely the same as the first book, which was a pleasant surprise. The inner misogyny thoughts were horrible but on the same hand men were treated little better than slaves so neither side was truly good. During the entire book I felt like it was psychologically messed up and there were no good answers on what to do or how to fix it. I ended up loving the moral dilemma of the book and made me think of things and see things that remind me of our current world but on a normal everyday non-supernatural scale. 5 out of 5 stars.

A M/M academy relationship with supernatural aspects to the plot was interesting. I liked the main characters and their relationship. I liked the book and the plot over all but it’s a little too religious and philosophical for my taste. It was a good book though, just not something I would read again. 3 out of 5 stars.
