“Of Blood and Smoke,” by Larissa Vincente

This book had so much in it for dark romance readers or lovers of monster smut. It had demons and angels and vampires. M/M and M/F relationships. It was an office romance with supernatural creatures and lots and lots of power dynamics. It was a good change of pace for me in between the books about Fae and war lol. 4 out of 5 stars. Make sure to look at the TW; cannibalism, nonconsent, stalking, kidnapping. Abuse, somnophilia.

OMG! I was so shocked at the ending and now I have to wait for the next book..... This book was crazy and I loved it. My initial theories on her second power was wrong but thats okay. Still have more theories and can't wait to see what happens next. Now I have to cope.

“The Night is Defying,” by Chloe C. Peñaranda

After loving the first book in this series, I was so excited to listen to the audiobook of The Night is Defying, and it completely surpassed my expectations. I adored book one (a solid 5-star read), but book two took everything I loved and made it even better.

One of the best parts for me was delving deeper into the protagonist’s lost past and memories, which added so much depth to the story. I also loved getting to know Nyte better in this installment. His lore was fascinating, and as an unapologetic fan of morally gray male characters, I couldn’t help but be drawn to his darker side. Chloe C. Peñaranda has this incredible talent for creating "red-flag" characters that are somehow irresistible, and I was absolutely here for it.

I loved the tropes, shadow daddy, enemies to lovers, etc. The world building was so good, and I was excited to see more of the celestial plane. I thought the side characters added to the story, I love well written side characters. I loved everything about this book.

And that ending? Absolutely insane!

I also have to praise the audiobook narration, which was flawless. It brought the story to life perfectly, and there isn’t a single thing I’d change about it.

5 out of 5 stars, I love this series!

But distance doesn’t erase shadows.”

“Drenched,” by Sephyrra

This book is a unique take on mermaid dark fantasy, delving into heavy and sensitive themes like trauma, self-harm, and sexual assault. While the story is not easy to read emotionally, it stands out for its poetic and haunting approach to fantasy, blending psychological depth with mystery and healing. The beginning of the book, focused on scientific exploration, felt a bit rushed, and the side characters introduced early on lacked detail or memorability, which made it harder to connect with that portion of the story, but it got better. It was a really good read and I’m glad that I picked it up. 4 out of 5 stars.

“Monsters can be anyone- I know you just have to push a person far enough that they don’t know where else to turn but into the darkness awaiting them.”

“Celestial Alphas,” by G. Bailey

I loved book 1 so much and was so excited to finally read book 2. I loved it and have to wait patiently for book 3. I loved the characters and all their internal struggles and the push and pull of the fated mates relationship. Hollis is such a little jerk throughout the book omg, can’t wait to see what he does next. The ending was amazing, and I glued to the pages the entire time. I love the entire Nexus aspect of the book and how monstrous they are, like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde type thing, very unique. Above all, I adore the reverse harem trope. 5 out of 5 stars, wouldn’t change a thing.
