Of Mountains and Seas by Emily Renk Hawthorne
3.0
“Of Mountains and Seas,” by Emily Renk Hawthorne
This was my second read thru of this story but audiobook version this time. I initially rated it 3 stars, but now it's 4 stars. I stand by what I originally said that this book is good for people who love to annotate because it was confusing with time jumps and the amount of POVs. It made way more sense the second time thru and I picked up way more information than the first time. I really liked the story plot, and the mystery mixed in with modern type political intrigue. I love the cultural differences with the Chinese lore. Of Mountains and Seas was plot and character focused and not a lot of romance for readers who want that. Tons of character development, whether good or bad, which I really liked.
The narration was perfect. It helped make more sense to the story and brought the entire book to life in my mind. I preferred listening to the book versus the e-book, it really made it magical for me.
The cover is initially why I wanted to read the book; it is so pretty. 4 out of 5 stars.

Whisper of War and Storms by C.L. Mecca

“But sometimes, love simply wasn’t enough.”
“Whisper of War and Storms,” by C. L. Mecca
I loved this book. Solid plot with tons of good tropes and themes like portal fantasy, fae/ elves, magic, hidden identity, enemy to lover, forbidden love, insta lust, slow burn, etc. The characters were perfect, and I was glued to the pages to see what would happen next. Portal fantasies aren’t always my thing based on how the author writes them, but this book was done so perfectly that I need to find more portal fantasies that are like this one.
I’m definitely going to be reading more books by C. L. Mecca. This book was so good, 5 out of 5 stars, wouldn’t change a thing.

A Kingdom of Destruction by Ivory K. Rose, Ivory K. Rose

“Sometimes people need to take what they want. Need to be greedy.”
“A Kingdom of Destruction,” by Ivory K. Rose
I really liked this book. Very few books that claim to be like Acotar actually end up reminding me of it, but this one does. In my head, it’s like Acotar but with a love triangle. I really liked the plot and all the characters; they were solid and kept me interested in what would happen next. I liked the Fae and the kidnapping plot/ tropes in the book. All in all, I wouldn’t change anything, it’s a 5 out of 5 stars. I’ve read a couple books by Ivory K. Rose, and I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

Consider the Lilies by Kitt Lynn
5.0
“…but you can’t protect someone against their spiraling thoughts.”
“Consider the Lilies,” by Kitt Lynn
I love this series so much. I feel like it gets better with each book. I loved to get the brothers story from the last book, but it can be read as a standalone. I loved how the omega was a man, which makes it stand out. I loved how one of the alphas was a female, and she is so tough and rough and tumble personality. Stefan (the male omega) was so sweet and innocent which isn’t something I see a lot in omegaverse book even with male omega ones. I was glued from page one, and I could not put it down. I can’t wait to see what Kitt Lynn will write next. 5 out of 5 stars.

When You Burn Me by Lorelei Johnson
5.0
“When You Burn Me,” by Lorelei Johnson
I’ve read another series by Lorelei Johnson, and I knew this book was going to be good when I picked it up with how good the other series was. I think I even liked this book more than the last series of hers I read. #1 I loved the plot! Dark warlock x light witch, forbidden relationship with a complicated backstory sucked me in right away. #2 I loved the characters so much. Not only the two main characters but also all the side characters were interesting and funny and brought so much to the book. not only do I want more of the main characters but I would love book with the side characters as the main characters, they were that good. I loved that he fell first and his inner dialogue of complicated issue of telling her the truth or not was so good. Definitely a book I will be rereading. 5 out of 5 stars.

Alpha of Thieves by Scarlett K. Wilde
4.0
“Alpha of Thieves,” by Scarlett K. Wilde
Robin Hood but with shifters and magic. I liked the plot a lot, she has to capture or kill him, the bandit, to gain her freedom but she ends up being kidnapped by him. I loved all the tropes- enemies to lovers, fated mates, forbidden love, political intrigue, found family, and slow burn with insta lust. I really liked the two main characters; they were my kind of characters all the way. The plot was simple and not surprising because it was very much Robin Hood but it made me have more time to focus on the characters and their relationship between each other. I really liked this book while reading, 4 out of 5 stars.

The Stormborne Vine by Tilly Wallace
3.0
“The Stormborne Vine,” by Tilly Wallace
This book is definitely what I would consider a cozy read. It was focused on botany and a girl trying to figure out what is going on with the plants on this estate. The FMC was focused on helping the plants, animals and people in this house. She was very curious, smart, and stoic with the single goal to do the right thing always. It had a cottagecore theme mixed with historical England vibe. I would say this book is perfect for readers who love character driven (not romance) books with cozy slow-paced feel. 3 out of 5 stars.

Bare Your Teeth: Wicked Ones by Twoony
3.0
“No one longed for peace more than a war-torn soul, and no one wanted war like one who had never experienced hardship.”
“Bare Your Teeth,” by Twoony
I wish this book was just Williams POV, there were too many characters for my preference, but it was a good book. some of the plot was confusing, I kept thinking it was a book 2 because I felt like I was missing key information. I liked the main plot, and I liked the snowy, war setting while it being winter in real life lol. I felt like this book would be better for readers who like plot more than characters with political intrigue. I did like the M/M relationship with characters on different sides. 3 out of 5 stars.
