Amy Among the Serial Killers by Jincy Willett
3.0
The book can be a stand alone. If you’re looking for a page turning murder mystery, it’s not this. You don’t start suspecting the murderer until 75% of the way completed. If you like decently thick books alternating POV just describing the setting and the characters, I’d say go for this but it will not have you on the edge of your seat whatsoever. 3 stars is kind because it’s not 2 stars so this feels safe.
The Maid by Nita Prose

If you believe the theory that Amelia Bedelia the fictional housekeeper has autism, this book is the adult version of that as Molly Gray the maid takes all directions literally with no understanding of sarcasm. The story ending is unexpected by ties up well. I wish there was a prequel to learn more about Molly’s grandmother while she was alive because so much more could be written about their lives together.

If I was 13 I probably would’ve given this book 4 stars. Fantasy isn’t up my alley but the language was vivid and descriptive. Only the last 15 pages would compel me to continue reading the series. If you’re in middle school, I could see readers loving this book and reading the rest.
The Library of the Unwritten by A.J. Hackwith

I’m not a fantasy fiend but you’re able to follow the story and characters through all iterations of hell. Each chapter is a different character which is usually difficult to follow but the characters stay together throughout the book on their adventure so the point of view isn’t necessary or a hinderance to readers. The book was longer than it needed to be and I don’t feel compelled to continue the rest of the series.
