i'm always a sucker for a groundhog day-esque book. it's a really good story and i loved her character development throughout the book. i'm also glad she finally looked past her boring boyfriend and finally saw the guy who has been perfect for her all along. i also read this on a monday because i don't think it would have made sense to read it on any other day

I received this book as an ARC via NetGalley.
Ellison Sparks is set for a big day - school photos, junior class officer elections, and varsity softball tryouts. Life is perfect with hot rock-star boyfriend Tristan, BFF Owen, and a retro playlist for every occasion. Oh, and it's a Monday.
When things don't go quite as hoped or planned, Ellie ends the worst day of her life with a simple repeated thought - "Please just let me do it over. Please give me another chance. I swear I'll get it right."
When Ellie wakes up, there's a strong sense of deja vu at play. As the day progresses, the situation becomes more clear - it's Monday all over again. And the next day. And the next. Until Ellie begins to realize that in order to end the cycle, she'll have to "get it right." But what does that mean? Is it lining up a gig for her boyfriend's band? Is it embracing an I-don't-care-what-you-think-about-me bad-girl attitude? Is it spending the day at home? Who/what does Ellie need to fix?
The plot device isn't new. We know if from Groundhog Day and Lauren Oliver's Before I Fall. But Ellie isn't Bill Murray in need of a serious attitude adjustment. She isn't Samantha Kingston, mean girl, reliving the last day of her life in an attempt to, again, "get it right." Ellie gains a better understanding of who she is, sure, but instead of learning how to better treat others or set things right one last time, she learns to be herself.
Told with levity and a great 1960's playlist for chapter titles, readers will enjoy Ellie's pilgrimage and ultimate enlightenment and contentedness without a sense of preachiness or judgment.

I really liked this one! I’ve read two other books by Jessica Brody, and this is my favorite so far. I’ve always loved the Groundhog Day trope so this was right up my alley. I’m definitely beyond my high school years now, but my younger self could relate to the concept of losing yourself in a relationship and hiding who you are to keep a boy. This trope is a tough one to do well in books because it can feel very drawn out and tedious, but I think Brody did it well here. Going in, we already know how many Mondays there will be (thank you, title), and she does a good job at keeping them fresh and not feeling too repetitive. As the book went on, I found myself liking Ellie more, which is perfect because you don’t get a sense of who Ellie is right from the start. Our understanding of Ellie grows alongside Ellie’s willingness to be herself. I recommend this one to anyone who loves the concept of repeating a day until you get it just right. It’s a sweet, fun high school romantic comedy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I read this one in middle school and remember really liking it. It's a fun and easy book to read and the plot is honestly pretty good.

Occasionally cheesy and cliche, but that works for this book. I needed a cute, fun, lighthearted read after 2 intense books in a row. A nice, fun, easy YA read that ended how I hoped it would.

I'm home from school today, which should obviously be a good thing, but I'm ill, and puking my guts out, so this book was literally the thing that saved me.
I adore Groundhog Day, and have seen it many times. The songs in this are the best, and I made a spotify list just to listen to it while reading.
Also, I have a soft spot for books with characters. AAAh, this book made my day.

I really enjoyed Ellison's ride through the 7 Mondays she had and how each Monday taught her something new. It's really amazing to watch the characters develop and to see their failures and everything. I enjoyed the book. It's a good one, that before reading I thought it would be boring but turned out to be cool.
