I've been listening to this on the way to work and I really enjoyed it. This has me wanting a book of them in college possibly told by various POVs.

I really wanted to like this book. I like Albertalli's other books and really was excited to read a bi character. However Leah's angst just got to be too much. Her crush was like her frenemy where she couldn't decide if she hated her or liked her. Not to mention she tells off her love interest for leading her on and the whole time she is leading on a boy. Then lastly, in the Simon book she is furious for Simon for not coming out to her and yet she won't come out to him. The whole book was just too full of inconsistency. I just felt like the whole book was a total bummer.

I was happy to jump back into Creekwood, and this is the type of sequel that isn't trying to mess around with the original. Leah proves herself to be a protagonist in her own right.

“But it sucks when life moves along without you. Sometimes I feel left out even when life's moving along with me”
ok so i’m trying to not let this book ruin simon vs the homosapian agenda for me but i have a lot of issues but we will start with pros
pros:
- bisexual rep for teenagers (+ gay rep with simon & bram)
- leah was relatable in her not wanting to drink and certain aspects of what high school is
- abby, who wouldn’t fall inlove with her too
- i honestly can’t think of anything else, but yeah there were some times the friend group was being cute and abby & leah were cute but that’s it.
cons:
- leah. everything about her.
- she was always getting irrationally angry at other characters and was never willing to change her opinions but at the end gets a happy ending
- leah & abby
- they had no chemistry ???? and they don’t seem like either of their characters in the first book. why in the first book have both of them crush on nick, and then let nick & abby become a couple and then just erase that so they can be together in this book
- leah being problematic
- the way leah spoke about herself and other girls was a bit off, i was really excited to see a plus sized character and her being bi too but she would state how she doesn’t diet and loves her body and then hate her body and make judgments about thinner women, which she’s a teenager and that makes sense but.
- also her argument with morgan, she wasn’t mad what morgan said racist she was more mad insulted a pretty girl she had a crush on ... that’s that. also she never heard morgan out and immediately dismissed her. if a close friend says something ignorant, educate them.
- her treatment of garett ??? that boy had a huge crush on her and several times throughout the book she states she doesn’t like him that way to her self but never to him ? she also states how she likes having his attention on her, which is just leading him on. even on prom she goes as his date but ends up kissing abby and then becomes abbys girlfriend, but never mentions this to the guy who is her date and has a crush on her.
- leah and her mom (+wells) like yes leah is a teenager but always came across as rude to her mom and her boyfriend. she never said thank you and is always embarrassed that she’s not as rich as her friends. she won’t get to know the man her mom loves
- nick
- nicks character got ruined the most from simon vs and he was completely unlikable in this story. the second abby breaks up with him he just switches a personality into a drunk asshole who is still pining over abby and we never really see how close him and leah are.
i don’t really even know what else this book just really irritated me and seems like badly written simon vs fanfic. i feel the book could of been really good if i was revised more and i don’t know made abby and leah believable. i never once believed abby had feelings for leah, and leah just seemed to idolize abby. which makes me really sad because i really wanted a cute lesbian coming of age story but sadly this isn’t it, hopefully i forget all about this book.

Definitely best to read it as a sequel, but it was fun to see the characters again and to learn more about them. I just wonder whether Simon misread the situation in the last book of it it was shifted for this one.

Similar to "Simon vs. the Homo sapiens' Agenda," this book is a fun, lighthearted, quick read, but quickly becomes forgettable and blends into the background. The characters are all cookie-cutter stereotypes and honestly if you switched their names with each other, the reader would hardly be able to tell because they're all so flat and one-dimensional. Overall I enjoyed the plot, as you can tell by my 4 star rating, but it felt like any other run-of-the-mill YA novel.
