I don't feel like I can give this any less than 3 stars due to my pre-existing feelings for the show and the characters but this just wasn't it..

Being a fan of the TV series, I just wanted to read this book. I did not have much expectations going in and hence was not disappointed. Although the book is set in 1902, I kept forgetting that and imagined the story to be set in the current period like in the TV series. There were instances where I had to think twice to realize that this is a historical romance. It was a fun and quick read, and as a fan, I did enjoy reading this.

See...I am a superfan of Jane Villanueva. I've seen every episode of Jane the Virgin twice. I was super excited for this book, even though I'm Team Rafael. I am very disappointed to report boring writing, shallow characters, and a slooowww plot. It took two library loans to get through a very short book. I am glad I read it, but was hoping for more...

I love these story. I live Jane, Michael, Rafael and everyone else. But still, I'm sure Jane wrote it better.

If you enjoy Jane the Virgin tv show, then you will love this book. It is basically the first few seasons but written in with different names and in a different time period. The writers of the show just wrote the book their main character Jane would write in the show. I really enjoyed this book, and would recommend. The audiobook is also excellent because it is read by Ivonne Coll, who play Jane’s abuela in the show. The audiobook also has great commentary by Anthony Mendez, but like the show it’s basically him narrating your thoughts about what is happening in the scene. It’s fun because it’s as if he is there with you listening along and commenting on different parts. I truly enjoyed this!

this is literally the book that jane “wrote” on jane the virgin! this was a cute little complicated story and i enjoyed it! HOWEVER- i still hate jane and rafael 🙄always will. literally even on the show i’m like- ok boring where’s michael (except for later on, that was NOT necessary, but still hated jane and rafael LOL). this was cute and i loved ronaldo’s (rogelio!) character the most. and honestly, both the boys deserved better, i’m sorry but josephine (jane) messy as hellllllllll
