I got this book because I'm a fan of the show, Jane The Virgin so I thought that picking it up would only be natural. I was right.

I liked the book, it describes things in great deal and makes you feel really in the moment, tho some may find it cheesy - like the cover

4 stars for nostalgia, but really a 3-ish star read

It's a novella, it's Jane the Virgin in fictionalized form, but still SO fun and so glad I got to finally reading it!

ALSO 10/10 on the audiobook narrators being Abuela and Latin Lover narrator!!! Was such a pleasant surprise hearing such familiar voices bringing you RIGHT back to the world. Essences were captured so well, and I had such a great time being back with the characters. So much fun, so much drama, very telenovela. <3<3<3

"The author’s actual backstory, which has been highlighted in promotional materials, is captivating, certainly. But rendered into fiction, so many steps removed, it falls much flatter. Whether it’s the build up or the distance, there is a sense here of promise unfulfilled." - Romance Weekly, Chapter 71

This book is sort of terrible, but I love Jane the Virgin so much that it was still a mostly enjoyable read. It’s awful as a period story. Don’t expect historical accuracy. But it’s entertaining for mindless reading. Sadly, the reviewers at Romance Weekly had it right.

Snow Falling is the romance novel that Jane Gloriana Villaneuva wrote on the popular TV show, Jane the Virgin. Snow Falling is the tale of Josephine, a young woman working at a hotel in 1900s Miami. She's in love with Martin, a local detective. Like any good romance novel there's sweep you off your feet romance, some mystery, tons of drama, danger, and a possible love triangle to keep things interesting. Will true love work out for Josephine?

I enjoyed Snow Falling, because it's a tie in with the show Jane the Virgin. It's not the all time best book I've read, but I still enjoyed the fun tie in associated with the TV show. The story is fairly good as well, as a stand alone.

The romance is sweet with a bit of sensual moments. I really enjoyed seeing the similarities between Jane and Josephine's stories. The relationships between Josephine, her abuela, and her mother are wonderful. It's great to see such positive strong female relationships in literature.

In general, if you're a fan of the TV show Jane the Virgin you'll probably enjoy the novel.

As a fan of Jane the Virgin - I basically read it to celebrate Jane being a 'published freaking author.' It was fun to read the book for the show's counterparts, and that it was basically everything that Jane probably wished would have happened in the show. As a member of #TeamRafael, I wasn't super into how super #TeamMichael it was - but it was a stock romance novel so I can't be too mad at all the tropes and how predictable it was.

I’m just gonna be honest here: the only reason I found any enjoyment in this book is because I watched Jane the Virgin and absolutely love that show.

If you don’t know Jane, from Jane the Virgin, dreams of being a writer and this is the first novel she writes in the show. It’s a historical romance that is loosely based on her life. So while I was reading it , I could replay the actual scenes from the show in my head. But honestly? Had not seen the show I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed this. It’s not bad, but I think being a fan of the show is what made this enjoyable for me.

I really wanted to like this book because I love the show, but it fell short. What works well for the show fell flat here, the story was too similar to the television show and therefore far too predictable. The narration was awkward and disrupted the flow of the novel. I will admit I was glad for the happy ending though.

I gave this book 5 stars because it was based on one of my very favorite shows. I’ve watched the show through many different seasons of my life and I strongly relate to the Main character, Jane, so this book was a treasure for me. Sure the writing is just so-so and the story kind of jumped around a little bit, but this was the most perfect Christmas gift from my husband and I will cherish it forever!
